When this phone came out , it was a good innovation. Move foward to Nov 2011, and it seems dated. BUT it is a solidly built motorola phone, the features are still valid today. It is a no nonsense " basic, as in andriod 1.5" that is still relevant today. Better built and not as big screen, yet very usable. You can download many apps, unless they require androis 2.o. The speaker is loud, typical motorola, in full volume, you an hear the ring tone accross the foodcourt at local mall, thats good! has Telenav and google maps nice basic turn by turn, boost version only has google maps. But you can download any app from andriod market. the buttons are simple and the touchscreen is not overly sensitive, feels just right. Camera is 5mp, not bad, not new, but does the job. I use a 4g sd card, understand it can use 8g sd card. has orientation as far as tilting the screen. I run google sky map, works great. As far as dropped calles I really dont have that problem, large urban city. I do occasionaly have slow text service, BUT that is because the IDEN network Nextel/Boost uses is ancient compared to others. Not really the phones fualt. The ONLY compliant I find is the battery life, at 1390 mah is small or one days regular use, extended batteries on ebay are expensive, not sure worth the cost. Get a car charger and you should be covered pretty good in daily use. I plug it in 1 hour a day and its charge last all the next day. It uses common mini micro usb connector common to many phones. The gps is decent BUT keep it off to extend battery life. It is a good basic touchscreen android phone, rugged, not waterprooof, american made done right. I have grown attached to it. Nextel version has a cuople more apps. I HIGHLY recommend a screen protecter and a silicone gel case/cover to protect it, inexpensive on ebay. The hard plastic ones tend to greate namy micro scratches on trim in daily use, Ask how I know. Not much more to say, great little basic phone, for work or someone looking for simple touchscreen phone......motorola i1...................:)Read full review
Touted on some Youtube videos as having true walkie talkie (without cellular towers)... we've discovered that the Motorola I1 does not!! If you're in a iDEN cellular area, you MIGHT be attracted to this phone, but the internet browsing on WiFi is painfully slow compared to today's line-up of smartphones. It is a nice size and can do somethings at a bare minimum, but I highly suggest looking else where. We purchased this model hoping to have the Direct Talk feature, which it doesn't support... Only the "Direct Connect" which relies on being connected via Cell towers.

its not the best smartphone its not even an average smartphone but in the nextel world its the best and almost functional compared against the leaders if you need the direct connect feature you are stuck with this phone but its the first time you got an smartphone and trust me get the job done. (still you need to carry your ipod 4g for your multimedia needs. as you already know the battery on the nextel phones are really limited but to make calls, dc and internet. dont try to use as PMP because you gonna run out the battery before come home.
Although it's not the best smartphone out by any means, it is a nice phone packed with features. As far as I know, it is also the only android PTT available at the moment. If you like smart phones and you need PTT for your work ( or play ) AND you don't want to carry two phones, it's a good phone for you. one CON to note is that if you are one to do a lot of things other than just PTT and voice calling, your battery will not get you through the day - better get a car charger. I hope they come out with an extended battery for this model. I also don't like the quirky holster - shield combo ( CHN0101 ) because the shield doesn't feel like it's a perfect fit. I still use it and it works, but I've had better . . . It's also not as fast as some of the other smartphones, but it's fast enough. Don't let these couple of cons deter you. If this phone seems to fit the bill for what you need ( ie PTT / android combo ) I don't think you'll be disappointed.Read full review
Well wifi is great! I haven't had too many issues with it yet just hard to find a car charger for it unless you buy it online. The actual internet without wifi is slower than the molasses. I think the picture is great with the camera. Overall its a great phone and being with a service like boost, no contracts and only 50 dollars a month unlimited talk, text, and web! It overall reminds me of my iphone just without the expensive ass bill and contract.
