My major objection to HTC's software is their stupidly insane startup bright screen and instrumental tone set that self-proclaims something about "Silently Brillian," when although it is brilliantly shining white as it boots, is really anything but silent, and on booting offers no way to turn its noisy startup tones off nore its blasted bright screen to something very dim on booting. Consequently my phone was always off in theaters, at opera, symphony, in the darkroom (that screen could fog film faster than anything other than sunlight!), and similar places where I did not want the blasted thing disrupting things. I wrote to HTC and Sprint requesting a fix, but got no responses. Really, really stupid feature that demonstrates the hubris at HTC!! Idiots!!! The phone is reliable, has very good reception and transmits (on the Sprint network) with no troubles except in remote places where one would expect to need a satellite phone. The camera takes images of a size convenient to post without shrinking the images, and is easy to use. No problems with any features other than the dumb booting (engineers and product manager dumb as their boots?) This model never overheats, and stores battery power well-enough throughout the day such that calls at the end of the day have been as easily placed or recieved as at the beginning. The size is so much more convenient than such oversized stuff as Samsung's Stylus Note and many iphones. The case is rugged, and there are many single-sided and book style cases out there. Just wish it didn't have that idiotic starting bright flash and jingle!Read full review

I had this phone for two years. By the end of that time I was ready for a new phone. Starting out it was fine, for being an early smartphone. It was slow to process anything, froze constantly. I had it in an outterbox case, it felt burning hot if it was on for a while, or held a long phone call. Reception was average, data speed on the slower side. The trackball was a nice feature in theory but it shown wear after about a year. Peeled. This was durable though, it took a beating and always work to the best of its abilities. Dropped, some water, it keep running. At the end of the two years, I was charging this several times a day. That was with average texting for a college student and phone calls here and there. I love photography, this is not a phone to take pictures with. It was constantly blurry and for me was hard to snap shots instantly. It was horrible in low light too. Overall, I would not recommend this phone.Read full review
The hero is a good phone. I bought two Hero's on EBAY for my family and they have the same operating software as my HTC EVO. The Hero is a smartphone that's smaller than most and fits inside my wife's purse easily and my sons pocket. The battery runs down quickly is used allot so buy the extended battery. be sure to buy a gel cover in case your drop the phone. Replacing the screen is easy if you follow the U Tube instruction.
Was wanting to download a specific app (Spotify) and can't even get Google Play Store. Tried several trouble-shooting methods but nothing would work. Very frustrating.

This phone is very easy to use, and has most of the same great features of more expensive phones. It's a great value for the price.
