The good: The Motorola Cliq has a great design with a brilliant display and easy-to-use controls and keyboard. Its feature set is rich and functional, and Motorola made some welcome improvements and user interface tweaks. The bad: The Motorola Cliq lacks a file manager, a camera flash, and some basic organizer features. You can store apps only on the integrated memory, and the memory card slot is stashed behind the battery cover. Call quality wasn't perfect and the handset was occasionally sluggish. The bottom line: With its excellent design, user interface improvements, and admirable feature set, the Motorola Cliq gives a big boost to the Android operating system. We had some performance quibbles with the device, and the MotoBlur interface can be a bit much, but the phone has a lot to like. And with the new update touch sensititvity and battery problems were solved.Read full review
I now have 3 Cliqs in my household. Keeping the camera lens clean is the biggest drawback. Freezing while typing emails or texts happens often, but the current T-Mobile Android 2.1 update should resolve these issues. The Wi-Fi performance is outstanding and Moto Blur seamlessly blends all of your social networking information. Phone is just the right size and weight. If using all of the features, keep a spare battery handy and car charger. I find it best to keep it plugged in when at home or desk. This phone is capable of doing more than you could ever need and easily takes the place of a netbook. Only upgrade is an iPhone, which has much poorer call performance but a better display. My son left his Clique for an iPhone 4 but I can never hear him clearly on calls, it's weakest feature!Read full review
As said, I'm pretty satisfied using this as my first smart phone. It lets me check my gmail, take pictures, set multiple alarms, go online, set up my google calendar, and get access to the android market. The physical keyboard is also a huge plus because I have no texting skills on a dialer. I don't really want all the social network feeds, so I could turn those off, leaving only the news feed (like newspaper kinda news). On the other hand, I see two possible deal breakers. One, the batteries dies fast--I'm a moderate user but I have to charge the phone every day or so. Two, the "call" and "end call" buttons are on screen, instead of being physical buttons. That said, if you get a good deal on this phone, I still recommend it.
This is a good phone, its has a very solid feel to it and does not appear to be cheaply made as most people state. It has a very responsive touch screen and 5 customizable pages which offers endless possibilities to what apps and programs you want and which order you want them in. Its app world has more than enough apps to satisfy even the most avid phone user. The camera and call quality are great. The only down side is that the phone does not go into portrait view when tilted sideways (only when keyboard is extended). It also has a fair moderate learning curve. You must have a little patientce when learning how to set it up and use it especially if you are new to smart phones/droids or you just dont want to read the manual. But then again, there's always youtube to help.
Only reason this review did not give the phone an excellent is because of the old Google 1.5 OS that is installed and no current updates are being released as promised by Tmobile. The phone is a Masterpiece. If you love the convenience of a full keyboard, along with a touch screen, that is also a slide phone, which by the way is very sturdy, I would recommend this phone to just about anyone. I already have one of these phones and decided to get one for my girlfriend since she is always borrowing it to play free android games. I can't begin to tell how much of a convenience it is to have this phone. The camera is very good in good lighting, however because no flash is included, low light is a problem. It also takes great video, as I have uploaded a few youtube videos and they look better than webcam videos. The keyboard is super compact and only thing you might not like is the spacebar. Because it is the same size as the other function keys on the lower part of the keyboard. If you are thinking about getting this phone, DONT HESITATE!! GET IT!!!Read full review
