This is the barest minimal phone needed for the sort of communication we expect today. It is best used for voice and SMS (texting) only. It does have a good fit and finish when in new condition. It needs charging daily if you use it moderately. I wouldn't roam the Web with it. It's so slow! I purchased two of these from the same Ebay dealer within a week. The phones looked good but one never would connect with Ting, which is a T-Mobile partner. That same phone also refused to connect with T-Mobile. Two techs at a T-Mobile office tried and failed to make it work. I kept the one that worked with Ting but it is distinctly inferior in speed and handling to my old geezer phone - an old ATT Samsung with a mechanical keyboard. I can still buy duplicates of that old Samsung phone for around $10-20 and it works better than this model. I wouldn't waste time using it for Web access either. But there's still plenty of money to be saved NOT using a phone for internet. If you can use a phone that can make voice calls and do texting, this is not the best selection but it's not the worst. It costs way more than the alternative Samsung SGH-A187. I no longer use ATT for my phone company but if you do, it's a good alternative to this phone.Read full review

A lot of people already gave full detail reviews of the phone. I am going to give you a review on top of those reviews. I bought and used this phone for three months already. It is not unlocked. I bought it from a T-mobile store. Overall, I love it. But I have a major problem with the bluetooth function when I am driving. The phone and my car could be connected via bluetooth very fast and easy before I start driving. I have some situations that I could give oral commands to make phone calls via bluetooth from my car but the phone did not make the calls. If at the moment, someone called in. I could only use my phone to answer but not via bluetooth from my car. Another problem that I have is sometimes it gets overheat (all of a sudden it gets very hot when I drive pass certain locations of New York City) and frozen that I have to remove the battery to reboot the system. I got some "warnings" from the Sales of the T-mobile store when I bought it. But I was told this overheat problem was due to the merger of AT&T and T-mobile that they were testing their system, etc. till end of July 2011. I still have the same overheat problem yesterday as of Sept. 12, 2011. I picked this phone over Iphone4 because of its 4G function to go online when WIFI is not available. So far I could find some bad spots not able to connect in New York and Orlando but overall it works great. I could check emails, read News any time I want. Hope this review could give you some help when choosing a smart phone.Read full review
This is a good quality phone. Strong signal and easy to navigate the menus. Not a huge fan of the button shapes for touchscreen texting, it causes me many typo/redos. have used someone's Iphone and also an LG My Touch, both of which are easier to text on. Also, it doesn't have a phone based calendar to organize on. I haven't been interested to use a google based one. AND I DONT KNOW HOW!!! The only other negative is this particular Galaxy version doesn't have many available high-quality phone covers. It took several hours online to find one I was satisfied with (found on Ebay)and it still has it's issues. Overall, for the money it was a great phone and I wouldn't consider myself a power user so I can't comment on much else.
I generally like the phone which was bought for its capability to be used overseas. I got rid of the battery and bought a Seidio which works great for extended battery life. the phone has a lot of apps which i am not interested in and cant seem to get rid of permanently. However, my biggest complaint is that you cant hear it ring unless you have it sitting beside you in a quiet room. Put it in your purse and forget receiving calls. Even with the ringer at its max you cant hear it ring if you are in any place that is noisy. ie stores; airports etc. and certainly not hear the text buzz. Had i been aware of this fault I would have opted for a phone i could actually hear ringing. I would recommend this phone to anyone who does not see this as an issue.
GPS is a crap. Cant erase apps that comes with the phone. Battery runs out too quick. Phone internal memory not enough. Sometimes the phone gets "confused" and had to turn it off and on to make it work. Wi-fi give trouble to connect, saying "error" oftenly. Not easy to handle, it slip out of my hands due to slippy surface. I had to attached a camera cord to it. Good signal. Very sensitive touch screen. Easy to use. Not really happy with my 4G S. I was expecting more from it.
