Having traversed my way through myriad new phones only to find them all cheaply made, overpriced and having a lifespan of about 6 months, I decided to go "old school" and go back to the Treo I owned some 2 years ago. It is a solid device that can withstand the daily rigors of my travels. It syncs directly with my Windows PC (Outlook, Media, etc.), has Blue Tooth AND IR,and it offers a full sized SD card slot. And it just feels like a phone, not a toy. It uses the Windows Mobile OS, a touch/tap screen and at it's inception, was years ahead of the Mac alternative (iPods/iPhones). It resembles the Pocket PC's that I have used (and still do) and presents a familiar & easy to use interface. Battery life is excellent and changing batteries (I always travel with a spare) is effortless. Having this device may seem too old school for some- those slaves to the latest and "greatest", but if you are looking for a phone that is more like a very small laptop, I highly recommend this one. The only dislike that I can register is that it uses Internet Explorer for it's browser, which sometimes renders web pages full sized and therefore hard to read, but enough of the sites that I visit have Mobile or Phone rendered pages and this more than makes up for it.Read full review
This Palm Treo (755p - Sprint) is a workhorse. Recently bought a used one as a replacement for my original which was 4 yrs old when I landed on it during a fall. *Positives* -Love the full QWERTY keyboard. -Good set of apps that come with it. Includes an easy to use calendar and contacts, & email - set up for business use. -VPN available. -Audible reader and eReader apps available. -Google Maps with traffic. Listen to mp3 music in stereo using PTunes or with an older version of Kinoma, listen to podcasts. -You can still find games that will work. IM & Facebook, too. -Camera & Video is decent. Great battery. Much better Palm smartphone than the later Centro series (smaller screen). I am able to use it with my old Sprint service without having to upgrade to the new 79.99 per mo. contract. *Negatives* -Blazer internet browser is slow and klunky. -No app store. -No Palm support any longer. I had a Black Berry 8330. I was on my 3rd refurbished one. The phone was dropped one time (fell two feet to the floor) and the "mouse" popped out and the shattered. This phone is built so much better than the Black Berry. Yes it is a little bit bigger, but it seems more solid. I like the one touch features for email, phone, calander and messaging. I also like the one touch turn off. Oh and the time it takes to turn the phone off is super fast! 10x faster than the Black Berry. Battery life is good as well. My only complaint is the signal strenth isn't great. I usually have full strength here at work and now I only have one bar. Going to try a antenna booster to see if that helps.
I love this phone, it gets the job done and is easy to text with. I had a Palm 700p and it worked great after having it so long, it never froze or gave me problems but the antenna gave me problems and looked too big.Eventually the bulky thing just fell off, leaving me with a perfectly good phone and no service. So when i saw they had one just like it but instead it was without the antenna and improved interface, i was searching all over ebay for it. If your a big texter, this is good for you, it has a good battery and the only bad thing i can say is con, is that you need an adapter for the micro sd/memory card but other than that, love this phone compared to the instinct i had also. Overall great phone.
The 755P is a heavy-duty phone/PDA with a superior keyboard. It works very well when used to write emails, send and receive text messages, and as a phone (no small thing when compared to the IPhone!). I am a power Outlook 2003 user, and this device allows me to keep my Calendar function (with extensive notes) and Contacts (including numerous sub directories) on the device itself indefinitely. Lots of memory. It won't fill to capacity no matter how many entries you make, as long as you use a memory card for picture and program storage. Only major shortfalls are no GPS and the limited availability of good extra programs written for this phone and its Palm operating system. The CallBlock 2.0 software, available for about $10, is fantastic for screening phone pests you would prefer to avoid.Read full review
