I've used MetroPCS since I bought my first phone, and this is the model I currently use. I've never been a fan of smart phones or touch-screens, so I mostly stick to plain old number-pad phones that can't be so easily damaged and are usually less expensive to buy/maintain. I've had my HP M635 (this model) for almost two years, and use it mostly for regular calls and texting. It has a weather app I've also found useful. It has a camera and a video recording option, a music player, calender, note pad, and I believe you can check your email but you need something activated in order to do it. I've never tried. The phone itself is visually appealing and so are its contents. The only problems I have with this model is sometimes it either freezes or seems to crash, forcing me to turn it on and off or plug it into the charger (either way seems to fix it). I think how much memory the phone has is directly linked to this, as I have almost maxed out mine's memory. This also could be a unique-case problem, but I've never been able to get my phone to register individual sounds for receiving text messages. I can only get it to vibrate. Individual ring tones work just fine, but for some reason the text tones do not. Also something of note: MetroPCS doesn't seem to have many towers and depending on where you live, you may get better or worse reception or no service at all. The general signal can be very weak and if you're in a large building with lots of interference or thick walls, you will most definitely get almost no service. However, I chock this up as more a fault of the company rather than the phone itself. I would recommend this model to people who just need a basic phone for calls and texts, and don't desire or need the many features of a smart phone. I ended up buying a used model of this phone for when my current one breaks, because I like how easy it is and its basic features are enough for me. (Cheap to replace is also a nice plus.) I wouldn't recommend this phone for anyone who travels a lot; you might want a phone and provider with more towers and stronger reception.Read full review
Alright, I'm coming off the Samasung Freeform III, so I'll be comparing the two in this review. Overall it is a good phone, but there are some things I like about the Freeform more than the Pinnacle. First, the calls are good, main reason for a phone. The texting is way, way better and faster than the Freeform. I mean texts only take only a range of 1-2 seconds at the latest most of the time to send. You may have those weird anomalies where it could take up to 4 seconds, but that's nitpicking. On the Freeform, it took up to 5-8 seconds for it to send. Very nice. And it also includes the chat function where you can see your texts as conversations, and even use it like an IM. I really like this feature. Second are the features. This is where it made it or broke it for me. The camera is fantastic, especially for a phone of its caliber. That's what made it for me. It clocks in at 1.3 megapixels, and even has a camcorder unlike the Freeform. Now what broke it for me was the browser. This is where the Freeform takes the cake. This browser is S-L-O-W. And it really hurts me because the second reason I use a phone is for the Internet. Granted it can download pictures off the Internet unlike the Freeform, but the Freeform had decent speed and loaded nicely. Even with pictures disabled, the phone is still slow. Last is the battery life. The Freeform had a better edge, if slight, on battery life than the Pinnacle. With average use, the phone lasted 3 days, while the Freeform could easily last 4 or even 5 days with average use. All in all, I like the phone better than the Pinnacle. Though if it were up to me, I wish I could combine both of their browsers and keep this phone's messaging system and camera and I would have my dream phone. Alas, that's the thing about phones, they always have something better and worst than the last phone you had. If you really like browser use out of your phone, deduct star from both features and ease of use.Read full review

Metro PCS is a great company if you live in a large metropolitan area and do not travel cross country much. Some time ago, I signed up for an unlimited talk/text plan and received a Huawei M635. While it is certainly no smart phone, it does have the ability, with an added mini sd card, to download your own music for custom ring tones. Easy to use and great talk time; nearly 4 hours. It has a large view screen that makes reading texts a breeze and the chat mode is a definite plus. I've ruined a few at the lake and like new models here on eBay are dirt cheap. Difficult to beat for the money IMO.
Unfortunately, when I took it to my nearby Metro PCS store, they told me it's too old and cannot be used. I don't throw anything away, maybe I can give it to someone who needs it.
