This mic works well for simple situations. I’ve used it for interviews and some field work without any issue. The price is just right for what you’re getting. Plus, the folks at Audio Technica have a rep of putting together a solid product, so high five to them. If you’re using this for DSLR shooting, I suggest purchasing a pre-amp. Unless the on board amp in your camera was made by the gods, buying an external amp will up your sound quality tremendously. Overall, I’m happy with the mic. It’s a good addition to my bank account killing hobby of collecting too much equipment.

The Noise floor is as high as a kite, especially on a dslr. Tried on a Tascam DR-05 and was Slightly better, but not by much. Not Worth the $100 CAD or the $60 USD it sells for. Premiere pro can't even clean up the noise because it sounds like static on a TV

Fantastic clarity and frequency response for such a reasonably priced microphone. Great for recording talk radio broadcasts or general music on a compact cassette recorder. It also takes a commonly available A A size battery.

This microphone has performed flawlessly as described. Should have made this purchase long ago.

Unfortunately this mic produces a lot of noise, mostly when put in tele mode. Also the cable looks like it might damage because of being fixed to the mic. Finally beacause of being attached to the camera (and because of the tiny hotshoe Sony uses on its cameras) the mic will always get all kind of noises when moving or operating the camera even when its just a little (I even tried with a suspension).
