I LIKE THE NEW WAY OF THINKING, WHICH I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR SOME TIME. ITS REFRESHING TO HAVE SUPPORT AND AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT "ALL IS ONE" AND TRUTH IS WHAT ITS ABOUT, THAT THERE REALLY IS NO GOOD/BAD ONLY TRUTH WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS CLEARED AWAY. I BOUGHT THE BOOK FOR ITS KNOWLEDGE, TO REMIND ME WHAT I FORGOT, AND TO GET MORE UNDERSTANDING FOR THE TIME I AM IN THE MID-WEST, LEARNING VERY DIFFICULT GROWTH SPURTS. I GREW UP IN IOWA BUT SPENT MY ADULT YEARS UP TO 53 IN CALIFORNIA . UPON MY RETURN HERE I HAD NO IDEA HOW HARD IT WOULD REALLY BE. KINDA LIKE THE ALCOHOLIC WHO GOES BACK HOME, ALL THAT WAS NOT SETTLED OR ACKNOWLEDGED COMES FLYING UP LIKE DEMONS FROM THE PAST. THESE VOICES OF TERROR AS A CHILD RETURN AND START CUTTING ME DOWN WITH WORDS LIKE LIGHTNING TO THE HEART. THE PAIN, CONFUSION AND SELF-HATRED IS THERE JUST AS REAL AS IT WAS THEN. ONLY NOW I GET FLASH BACKS AS HOW IT GOT STARTED AND HOW ALL THE CHILDREN IN ME GREW INTO HAVE THERE OWN PERSONALITIES AND WHAT PURPOSE THEY SERVE TO PROTECT OR FEEL THE EMOTION PAIN, OR PSYCHOLOGICAL CONFUSION OF WHAT IS REAL. I CONTINUE TO DEAL WITH ALL THIS TO THIS DAY ALWAYS LOOKING FOR ANSWERS, WAYS TO HEAL AND GUIDANCE TO HELP MYSELF LOVE ME THE BEST I CAN, SO I CAN BE THE BEST PERSON I CAN BE, AND IN THIS WAY I FEEL I HELP THE UNIVERSE TO HEAL. ITS LIKE MICHEAL JACKSON'S SONG "THE MAN IN THE MIRROR". ITS VERY HARD TO HOLD MYSELF ESTEEM ABOVE WATER HERE, AS, I FIND MYSELF STANDING ALONE, BEING ACCUSED OF THINGS I AM NOT ABOUT, AND BEING TREATED VERY DISRESPECTFULLY, WITH MY DIGNITY AND INTEGRITY BEING ATTACKED DAILY. I HAVE VERY LITTLE FAMILY SUPPORT, EXCEPT BY MOM, DOES HER BEST , SHE IS 90 AND INCREDIBLE. THEN I HAVE 3 SISTERS WHOM ARE STEP FAMILY BUT CLOSER THAN MY OWN AND MORE LIKE WHAT A FAMILY IS, AND MY FRIEND SHARON. THANK THE HEAVENS FOR MY FAR AWAY FRIENDS WHOM ARE MY FAMILY FOR MANY YEARS NOW. SO I BOUGHT THE BOOK FOR ALL THESE REASONS, AND AM LOOKING FOR NEW STRENGTH DAILY AS THERE HAS BEEN TIMES I REALLY FEEL LIKE TAKING MY JOURNEY, BUT DON'T AS I DO NOT WANT TO REPEAT THIS LIFE, AND I REALLY WANT TO GET IT....AND WALK IN THE LIGHT SEEING ALL AS LESSONS, LEADING TO THE NEXT LESSON , AND FEELING LIKE I DID WHEN I LIVED IN CA. Eckhart Tolle presents a spiritual truth that is thousands of years in concept but aimed at the modern world. He presents a transformational spiritual truth in the context of our fading materialistic value system. An old set of transcendent values in the language needed to reach the needs of a faltering social environment. These are concepts to take us to the next stage of evolution and heal the past.

you definitely have to be in the mood to read this book, without interruption. the reading is heavy, and many paragraphs have to be read more than once to grasp what tolle is saying. BUT...i had several "AHA" moments when reading the book. i was recently in a near-tragic auto accident 5 months ago. luckily my husband and our twins made it out ok. i on the other hand BROKE MY BACK. i've had 2 surgeries already and the road has been long and painful. this book is just what i needed. even before reading the book, i had a totaly NEW OUTLOOK ON LIFE since surviving the accident. the doctors told me i should've been paralyzed (or killed) on impact from the injury i suffered (burst fracture)...apparently, i beat the odds. so i am definitely a more positive person now and don't stress about the little things and look for the BETTER in everything. life isn't so bad....now i always say "it could be worse"!! appreciate every moment...you never know when it could be taken away from you. read the book...it's worth it.Read full review
I have been looking for answers and explanations for decades. This book is a combination of things I have learned from, Wayne Dyer, Neale Donald Walsh, John Gray, Gandhi, and the endless list of enlightened authors I have read over the years. I do not believe everything I read, hear, or that I was taught as a child. I have learned to listen to many opinions and ideas, take what I want, and leave the rest. After struggling for many years and praying for answers, Eckhart Tolle shed some light on who/what I we really am. I always knew I was not, just, my human body. I have had experiences in my life that most would not believe. After reading A New Earth, I have a better understanding of why I am here, what I am seeking, and how to continue. This book is not for everyone, as you can tell by reading the reviews, but it is for me and many others. You will have to read it more than once. The videos, transcripts and audio recordings of Oprah's online class, makes for a great study tool. I highly recommend this book.Read full review
This book made me think, that I liked. The fact that it is not new information but a blend of Christian principles, Eastern religions & New Age doctrines was informative but not life-altering. Tolle begins with flawed information, (Darwin's brand of evolution), and moves into some very vague and gray areas with not much in the way of explanation. One of the statements Tolle writes has been tossed around regularly as though it came from some other-worldly source. "Evolve or Die" sounds extra-ordinary but if reality is your bag - and it is mine - facts are, evolve or not, we're all going to die, the enlightened and the ignorant alike. 'Tis the fate of man. Read it, take the good and leave the bad. Use the ability to discern God gave us all. There is something to be learned from almost any book. Thanks for reading...JinxRead full review
