You could actually see wildlife that couldn't be seen with other binoculars. I would let other people look through my binoculars and they all said the same thing, "I've got to get me a pair of these!" Used them in Yellowstone, Glacier and Waterton NP's and saw more than I could have with other brands. Expensive but well worth what you pay for them. They are well made so you should have many years of use from them.

Seriously, postpone the standard 8x42 expert advice and try these 12x50ELs first. Lightweight, rugged, ergonomic Swarovskis are an absolutely manageable combination of FOV, magnification, sharpness and light gathering. Excellent for astronomy too.
