This publication is far below the standards for Osprey Publications. The writing is not at all clear and not compelling. There are a number of full color pages with illustrations of warriors from the period with captions in an appendix. Many of the photographs show various weapons but with very little explanation, such as where these artifacts were found. There are many ethnic groups mentioned but rather poor explanations for each, or any fitting into any larger context.

In a nut shell This book tells you every thing you needed to know about Rome's Enemies (Germanics & Dacians) but were afraid to ask your local Legionary. ^_- Or didn't know were to find it. A darn good book just like all of the other Osprey Men at arms books are like. Well worth a read or just look at the photos & great drawings ^_^
Great book to add to your 'Osprey' collection.
