I'm very impressed with Nikon's TC-14E II teleconverter which I use on a Nikon 300mm f4/D to gain a bit of reach. Although I'm not shooting targets using this arrangement the field shots I am getting are most impressive. If there is any loss of sharpness, it's negligible to my eye and others. The loss of one stop is the price one must pay for the additional reach and in those circumstances where reach is everything, it's a reasonably small price to pay. So I own, use, and would definitely recommend this particular TC. Another great optical instrument from Nikon. Enjoy!

Folks, Nikon builds great glass and one can not ask for greater compatibility within the Nikkor family, they work and they fit together very well!! I use this with my Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 VR and D700 to get a little more reach in indoor sports or when photog movement is restricted and lighting conditions are right. I would not use this or any other TC with any lens greater than a f2.8 and should be a pro class lens also. I am very pleased with the fit, function and build quality of this TC-14E II AF-S converter. I do not compare my gear with other gear because when you have the best, whats to compare? ;-) V/R KMW
Works great with my Nikon 80-200, f2,8, ED G AF lens! It doesn't slow the focusing at all, at least not noticeably to me. I have shot with it on my Nikon D810 and D750 without a hitch. And, with only 1 Stop of light loss, I wouldn't even consider the 2x teleconverter.

I have used this teleconverter with my Nikkor 500mm f4 AF-S and 300mm f2.8 AF-S lenses and the images are very sharp. I see very little degradation of the image quality, which is the main issue with using teleconverters. See my great blue heron photo, which is cropped from the original, taken with the 500/4 and this TC.

Good quality image with Nikon AF-s 300 mm f/4 (non VR version) all you need a good light and ideally a tripod. Images taken with Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII were not very impressive.
