I, personally, can attest to the quality of these magnificent devices. Not just the SR-11, but ALL of the old Texas Instruments calculators having just TWO numerical digits in their model numbers were FANTASTIC! ANYONE who does a lot of math, should definitely get one of these! You will love it! Here's why: 1. You can read the display at a greater distance without picking it up or having to tilt it this way and that way to see it. The inclined, red LED display makes this possible. Superior technology abandoned! 2. They stay put. One of these calculators has sufficient weight and rubber feet so it doesn't slide all over the place when you use it or when you reach to pick it up. Just these two features alone are a great help in concentrating on one's studies or job and getting more done. Why, in May, 1076, in ONE WEEKEND, I read my entire television textbook (670 p.), answered all the questions, and worked out all the problems using my trusty SR-11!! The only reason I quit using my first one was that NiCad batteries were not easy to find nor cheap in those days. We didn't have internet, or even personal computers nor cell phones, in those days. So the only place I could find them wanted more than half a day's wages before taxes and I was a poor boy. The SR-10 is an good scientific calculator, and it's display LED chips are a little better protected from battery leakage by a larger magnifier lens than that of it's successor the SR-11. But the SR-11 has a pi key which makes it all you need for simple math or pre-algebra. The SR-50, -50A, -51, and -51A are all good calculators for higher mathematics, with my personal favorite of those four being the SR-50. The battery contacts were more durable in the earlier models, but you can always build your own battery pack these days and hardwire it to the board if necessary. And with nickel metal hydride batteries, you should be able to run all week without recharging and do that on the weekend. Considering all that, Texas Instruments should definitely reinitiate production of these calculators! Meanwhile, I'll just keep fixing them.Read full review

The SR-11 comes from a time where you'd go to JC Pennys and pay $70 (on sale!) for a calculator. What I like are the multi-colored keys and the bright red LEDs. The calculator has a power saving feature where after a minute of no use it turns off all but the 1st digit. Pressing the +/- key twice restores the full display.
