The light that is supposed to simulate sunrise points up and is not very bright. It might be compared to a cheap, battery powered camping lantern that points up. You can hardly notice it (with eyes closed), not like a room lamp. The time display is very bright, annoyingly so (twice as bright as all my other alarm clocks). I turn the clock so the wake up light points at me and the time display points up, this helps both issues but I keep my old clock so I can see the time on a dim display.

Ok for the Price the audible alarm is great not too irritating but the Light isnt bright enough to actually wake you up. Previously I was using a BioLight which lasted for over 12 years but I thought for $25 lets give this one a try. All in all not a bad product but it you do not like alarm clocks and want to be waken up by imitation sunrise this may not be the clock for you

Works as a night light, but I couldn't read by it and it never gets bright enough to wake you in the morning. It might have just been the particular one I got but it lost time fast.
