I read this book soon after it was available in the library. The previous reader was a smoker and a heavy one at that by the putrid fragrance wafeing from every page. But, then something took over...the story of a lonely woman whose hormones were still working. Something I could ID with. The quaint Iowa setting does still exist in remote areas where one can leave the front door unlocked at night. The relationship between the couple was flowing and free. Very easy to follow with the sexual tension building to a crechendo...I held my breath as my eyes couldn't keep up with my comprehension of what I was reading! After the wordsn stopped and there were no more pages to turn I thought,"what a story!". It was a real shame when the actual bridge was set on fire by some sicko, but the book still remains in multiple copies for those of us who still desire some romance in a simle setting of rural America. Bridges of Madison County is actually a true love story of Robert Kincaid, a professional photographer from Seattle, Washington. It takes you through the real life emotions of living and loving for you. The love in this story is truly amazing and makes me believe in love again.

This is my favorite movie. Not many people are fortunate to have a once in a lifetime love, I was lucky enough to find a love like theirs and we took the chance and got to keep it for 23 years until cancer took him last year. He happened to look like Clint Eastwood so when I want to remember how he would talk with his eyes and how his hair lays etc I just pop in the movie I decided I needed the book and this is the first book/movie that is so true to each other without a bunch of changes. The book stays next to my bed on the nightstand and I pick it up now and then and just reread a few pages. What a great love story. It makes me remember how lucky I was to have that true love where you are really no longer two people but one. Thanks for a great book....
I read this book long time ago when it came out in the early 90's. I read it in one sitting read it in 1 day without stopping it was that incredible. It's the only book I wouldn't mind reading it again. The movie was a complete flop it does not come close to this book.
