this sounded like it would be easy to control via app but I think its a real pain. its still a cool little robot like toy but I think they should have included a radio with it also. it goes out of range often and is hard in tight spaces. id say its ok overall I'm an adult and this is more for the younger generation. i do wish the nubby tires were rubber and not hard plastic also. if your outside using it even on pavement one little rock or debris will stop this thing from rolling. ive gotten stuck numerous times in far distances and had to go retrieve this thing. its fun but not a 10 on my list. ill stick with Rc vehicles like cars and trucks and quadcopters. its not too fast and steering with the app is verry difficult at best especialy indoors and realy hard to get used to. I like the lights and such and the tricks are cool though. I think this is more toy grade than hobby grade if you ask me. its good for a small kid and teens and adults who want to goof around once a while. the only realy good thing I realy like is the battery time is great. if you want an rc robot this is not that great could do better.Read full review

Darkside Ollie is a good product but know its limitations. I also bought some monster tires which is kind of a waste of money because if you have visions of tearing through the lawn and gravel forget it...its too weak for that. on a hard level surface its great and tons of fun....get the hexnub tires like the wideboys or nobby tires but the monster tread is a gimmick.original tires are way too stiff and I about couldn't take them off easily but the nexhub are soft easier and more grip...I may never use the original tires again. is the extra packet worth it well to me no....I would now rather get the Ollie by itself then buy better tires for it but this is live and learn.i paid 89$ for the darkside package and I believe it is worth it but wouldn't pay much more.

After months of investigation on my daughter's part, she decided that she could not live without this. I will have to say I am not impressed. It does seem to be very durable and somewhat entertaining for the first 10 or 15 min but this is really no different than a RC car. It can go forward, backward, spin in circles and that is about it. I have a little RC car ($5) that can do the same thing, only it does not require my cell phone or tablet. -Sphero, you item is way over priced.

Just a plain hoot to run around the living room with, does some great tricks and drives my dogs nuts with the lights and spins trick it can do. I'm 57 years old and still enjoy things like this and I'm a avid collector of Star Wars so I was attracted to the Darkside name to begin with. I also now own the 2.0 and BB-8. Sphero make a great quality robot.
