After owning a multitude of printers I previously purchased an Epson thinking that 6 cartridges would give me a longer usage time between replacement but alas I was wrong. Unfortunately in todays world it is cheaper to purchase a new printer than to just buy ink! So, with the need to move into wireless (so my wife can print from the laptop in the kitchen), I bought another HP. I left HP because their customer NON-SERVICE was deplorable in the past. Today they have wised up and now give pretty good service (as I had to call them as the manual left out several crucial bits of info). So How is the printer itself? Pretty darn good! I'd give it a 8 out of 10 with the big complaint from me is that it is very noisy when printing. Print quality is good and controls are simple. I'd buy it again. AND like I said, the HP customer service is greatly improved!Read full review
I was hesitant to purchase an HP Printer due to past experiences. One the built in print head on the cartridges keeps them from clogging but makes buying ink expensive. Also on past HP products when I upgraded operating systems drivers were very slow to be updated if at all. For the price though this printer is excellent. A little more setup than just plugging in as I wanted this as a wireless networked printer. The install cd made everything easy though and now everyone can print in the house without leaving a pc on all the time. I have successfully used this printer with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. One note is if you want to print photos it is recommended you buy the photo ink cartridge. This isnt included on purchase just an all purpose color which still looks great nevertheless. The one touch scan and print is nice. The only downside is whoever is networked to the printer cant simply use a general driver and print. The install cd needs to be run on each pc, but this does give each pc more options than just printing as it includes all the tools for scanning etc. I dont think you will find a better ink jet for the price. My last printer was a Canon and although the ink was cheap, that is what ended the life of the printer was a clogged print head. The design of this HP inkjet looks to be a long life printer.Read full review
from the desk of Jason at J~n~R Technology... At J~n~R Technology we buy multiple products for our customers. However when it comes to printers we only offer two brands, Canon and HP. The reason for this is because if you want quality and easy to maintain and repair units these two have been the best that we can find. Not to mention the great customer service from both companies when need it. This model (HP C4580) is a great deal for the home or small office. It offers many features that are very useful and necessary in today's hi tech world. So lets get started: 1) Fast and easy setup. 2) Easy network setup. 3) Prints beautiful full color photos and presentation papers. 4) Uses only two cartidges, black and a tri color. 5) Is very well made. 6) The flat bed scanner makes copying a snap. 7) The LCD screen makes it easy to perform many tasks. 8) Is an excellent value for the money and will give you years of use. Cons: 1) The flatbed scanner lid comes off easily. 2) Paper tray doesn't hold as much as it's predecessors. 3) Doesn't have a photo paper only feed tray. 4) It can be a little tricky to get the ink cartridges in if you are a first time user. As far as this unit is concerned it is a great unit and should be a definite consideration if you are looking to upgrade or just buy a new printer. We hope this helps you in making your decision about this item. Jason and the staff at J~n~R TechnologyRead full review
I had an Epson All-in-One and it worked fine... I hated the size of the ink cartridges. I have liked the size of the HP cartridges so I searched for one of their printers when my Epson finally gave up. I had some trouble loading the software because of the small RAM I have in my computer. HP's Customer Support helped me find a way around this using their "Instant Chat". The only thing I dislike about the HP that the Epson had was a "Smart Screen" to help with scanning. You need to scan from the printer.
This printer was a temporary replacement for a more advanced model and I didn't expect much. Surprisingly it does just about everything the newer one did and does it well. I've had some trouble with the color cartridge but I'm not sure if it's the cartridge or the printer.
