I only paid $199 for it. If I paid any more, I wouldn't be happy with the picture quality. Starts up fast and is small enough for your pocket. Good battery life. And you can get a 16 GB SD HC memory card for around $40. My 2 GB card filled up with only about 30 min of video at the highest setting.
Fits in the palm of your hand. I thought so much of it that I now have 2 of them.Full featured, excellent zoom, really easy to set and use, batteries are cheap and last me about an hour of shooting. Uses SD memory card. Weights less than a half pound. Requires a bit of thought to transfer to a DVD, but not a problem that can't be overcome.
Finally found a great low price camcorder used. This is an older model but the quality is great. My wife could not believe how small this camcorder is and how we can make both still and movies from the same unit.
Small, easy to use. however, The SD card format is a challenge. Each start/stop event causes a new file. The result is ending up with 30 or 40 files for a single event. The included software is a pain in the ass. I've yet to figure out how to burn the SD contents to continuous DVD.
This is a great camera, looks lik a new one. only a few scratches on the outside, but works great !!! like new
