Battery life could be better, but it's an excellent hybrid—can be tablet, can be laptop. And if used a laptop (get the keyboard, worth every penny), it's a very portable and lightweight one.

the 4th generation keyboard is tilted up, so when you type, underneath the thin keyboard is all empty air, feels kind of strange. the back flap is also inconvinent, especially when you want to use it on your lap or on the bed

I bought this to use with Staffpad, music notation software. I needed to go the Microsoft store in the Burlington Mall to get them to install it. I couldn't do it online by myself. Presently, I'm getting up to speed on it. The screen is a little small. If I like Staffpad perhaps I'll get Surface Pro with a larger screen.

The screen on this thing is like a small laptop rather than a tablet, and it is so clear. It came with a Pen and the keyboard which moves and reclines in a pretty decent way. I bought this exclusively for drawing and art purposes. The pen degrades kind of easy, so to you have to be careful not to press to hard. No scratches or look alikes on screen after drawing. Doesn't want to work with my casting gear for some reason. Had to buy a mini HDMI cable to fix that. I love this thing. It's basicly a computer with tablet capabilities.

The surface line has long been marketed as the tablet that can replace your laptop, with the surface pro 4, I believe it. This little juggernaut with its Core m3 processor gets the job done. The operating system is optimized for use on just such a device, the backlit keyboard is thin and doubles as a protective cover when closed, and the pen is PERFECT. If I had to find one thing about the surface pro 4 that I would call a drawback, its the fact that the battery life when compared to laptops is a little short. But considering its size and capability, this hardly counts as a complaint. The pen sensitivity is excellent, the palm ignoring is flawless, it hasn't missed a single stroke, and its very handy to be able to stick the pen to the side. If you're wondering why everyone doesn't have one of these instead of a laptop, I can offer you two reasons. 1. The price is a little steep for the average user, especially if you won't use the pen and touch capability, and 2. the number of ports on this (as with any ultrabook) is severely limited due to size constraints. Where you would normally have 3 USB ports, a charge port, ethernet, HDMI, and maybe even a DVD drive, you'll have to settle for one USB 3.0 port and a mini display port (which requires an adapter) on the surface. All in all, the surface lives up to its reputation of best in class capability in an ultra portable package. There's a reason companies like HP, Lenovo, and Dell have tried to copy what Microsoft has done. The Surface pro 4 is both an attractive device and a feat of engineering all in one. The software and hardware capabilities are second to none, and the stylus feel, design and performance is flawless. If you think you want one, get one. They really are as good as they sound.Read full review
