Why did I buy: I have used 35mm cameras for over 40 years and always wanted a larger format camera, larger negative = better pictures. Likes: Ease of use, large negatives, and adaptablity completely modular design Dislikes: Weight, but I expected it. You can use the internet to compare features and and specs like weight to held decide which one is best for you. Value: Camera body, 2 view finders, 2 lenses and 2 film back inserts for $300 is a great deal. More than satisfied with this purchase.
I have had a Bronica ETR since the mid 70's! It has all the features a person could want in a medium format SLR save for mirror lock up! I have seven lenses from the 40mm to the 250 and they are each perfectly color balanced. The AE PRism finder has never been a great success, but it makes a great prism finder, just don't use the light meter part of it! If it does work the numbers in the viewfinder are too poorly illuminated to read! I have the motor drive, the auto bellows, the pro shade and two auto extension tubes. All work very well. I would love to see Bronica come back and offer a digital back for the system...that would be great fun! I also love the Bronica GS-1, but I never owned one. I bought the extra body just to have parts in the event I need them!
Hello! I will try to answer your questions. Why I bought it? I have a large format printer HP DesignJet 450C. I like print A0 and A1-sized pictures, but my Canon EOS 300D (6.3 mp) is not good enough. The new Canon 60D in Latvia pay at $ 2000, and is too expensive for me. I decided to use 6x6 or 6x4.5 format film camera. I think, that the kit I bought from eBay was very good. Two camera kits, wide angle and telephoto lens, 220 filmback and other accessories for $ 495 is a good purchase. What I like Most about it? It is that everything is in working order. What I dislikes about it? I like everything. Whether or not the product you would buy again? Camera definitely not, because the third camera I do not need. But some 220 filmback I'll get. Juris.
Components (backs, finders, focusing screens, motor drive, etc.) are easy to find, lenses are high quality and really affordable. I own two, they are fun to shoot.

40 years ago I was a professional in large format film photography. Over the years I was an early adpoter of digital technology. Now I want to get back into film for the more creative aspects. Large format is not possible on my budget so hence the switch to medium format. I would like to have a Hasselblad but there is an order of magnitude of costs. Choosing the Bronica gives me the same functionality at a lower entry cost. I also use a Graflex Crown Graphic 6X9 format with a roll film back. Since both cameras use 120 & 220 film I benefit in the darkroom. The down side is that the Bronica is no longer manufactured and replacement parts/service are not easy to come by. On the other hand, the non-electronic Bronica is fairly bulletproof.
