This review is for the Savi W440 Standard model. I purchased this for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 15, where it has been one of the highest rated models for voice recognition for a number of years. Although quite pricey brand-new, new, reconditioned, and use models can be found at approximately the $100 price point. It comes with a number of options for wearing. This includes a headband with a soft earpad, behind the neck, and over the ear. It has a charging base and a very nice hard flip box for carrying around. Being that it is DECT it has a much greater range and truer audio than similar Bluetooth models. It is also one of the most lightweight of any of the Savi line. The performance for voice recognition and my experience matches the reviews. Battery life, however, does not match what Plantronics states. If one was using the model in the narrowband mode for telephony, performances at approximately 4 to 5 hours. In the wideband mode for voice recognition, it is closer to three hours. It's best to purchase an extra battery which may be hot-swapped during the day. A good investment is a deluxe cradle, model WH600. A number of vendors offer these for around $25 and they may be plugged into the detachable charging base. A small door in the side allows the battery to be charged and quickly swapped in. The weak point is the DECT dongle hinge. When attached to a laptop its large size can be bumped or catch things causing a break in the plastic. If installed in a workstation, or used with care, there should be no problem. Overall this is a great solution for dictation and voice recognition, and if purchased on the secondary market represents a great value to the end consumer.Read full review
