Bar none, the finest pre-amp I've owned over the past 37 years of owning pre-amps! It has all the connections one might need, including 4 RCA inputs, 2 balanced inputs, a full processor loop (sadly, rare these days), a low output (MC) or high output (MM) phono stage, with loading adjustments, a built-in subwoofer crossover with L and R (for stereo subwoofers), and summed (for single subwoofer) outputs on both RCA and balanced connections, and a home theater bypass input (which I don't use, so I can't comment on how well it functions). Also a full array of tone controls is available with a tone control "direct" bypass. The only thing lacking (for some) is digital inputs. I use an external D/A converter with a balanced connection to the XSP-1, so not a problem for me, but some may prefer on-board D/A conversion. It runs very quiet (no mechanical or electrical hum or noise, even with low output MC cartridges) and sounds great! The remote control works fine and the volume increments allow fine-tuning from the listening position. 100% recommended!Read full review

For the price - exceptional value. Great product if you are serious about stepping into higher end audio gear. Unfortunately, the used product I purchased did not come with a remote control so I purchased an after market universal remote from Logitech - works fine. I have owned pre-amps from Conrad Johnson, Soundcraftsmen and Superphon. Although the CJ was wonderful, this is a close substitute. It leaves my Soundcraftsmen and Superphon in the dust.
