I purchased this tablet to use while traveling. The 10.1 inch size I have for home browsing and games is just a bit too large to comfortably take along in my bag. And it is wi-fi only. This one is connected wherever there is a 4G network! I had zero problems getting it activated at AT&T, which was also a plus. For my traveling needs, the Samsung Galaxy 4 8" tablet is pretty perfect. Not only is it a good size for on-the-go, but it also effortlessly handles the tasks I most often need it for. Battery life is great. Although 16GB of internal storage is not really enough, you can expand it with up to a 64GB micro-SD card. It comes loaded with apps that you may or may not find useful. Those are just there for the life of the device. If you detest "bloatware," then this tablet may not be for you. However, I personally have found a good many of the pre-loaded apps to be very useful. Being able to rely on 4G networks when not within range of wi-fi is invaluable. It isn't a phone, no, but I knew that when I bought it. The release date for this device is April 2014, so it's getting a little long in the tooth, specs-wise. In my experience with Samsung, that really isn't a negative. I had a Galaxy Note 8" tablet (2013) that I absolutely dogged to death. It lasted for over three years of hard use - and was actually better built than the 2016 Samsung Tab A 10.1" with S Pen that replaced it. If I have a single quibble about this particular model, it is that the touch screen isn't quite a sensitive as my other tablets or my cell phone, and there is no setting to adjust sensitivity. That takes a little getting used to, but now that I'm acquainted with it, I don't really notice the difference. All in all, a good buy and a great product!Read full review

I bought this tablet as a replacement for a 2 or 3 year old LG G Pad 7" I had bought for my daughter. I am very pleased with this tablet as it is a general all around improvement over the older tablet. While it is not necessarily noticeably faster in general tasks, the screen is larger and crisper, better color rendition in my opinion. Some tasks in the software run faster than the older tablet by a lot, other more or less the same. The amount of available storage out the box is comparable. She is thoroughly enjoying this newer upgraded tablet. The only downsides I can see with this tablet compared to the old, is that the battery doesn't appear to last nearly as long as the older tablet (odd considering how old the older tablet already is and it would be safe to assume the aged battery should not last that long either), but also the sound is not that clear out of the lone rear speaker and the volume doesn't appear to get as loud. But the battery issue might be the cause of the larger brighter screen and the lackluster sound might be the fault of the case we put her tablet in hindering the sound some.Read full review

I bought this to play a handful of mobile games that I used to play on my phone so I could have my phone back as a phone. And for that purpose this device is absolutely brilliant. The display is excellent - sure its not the newest or most advanced tablet available. But the picture is clear, crisp - details are nice and colors are accurate and clean. I'd do it again without hesitation.

I use computers for almost everything I do on a daily basis; this 8" tablet easily does everything I need to do, with excellent battery life and clear to excellent graphics. From simple emails to complex data entry and even spread sheets and power point projects, it doesn't let me down. I have installed a 64 gbyte micro SD drive, which allows me to store a very large amount of data. The tablet allows me the freedom and performance I once thought was only available in an expensive laptop. Thanks Samsung, you've done it again.

First off, I have an S4 so I'm not really up with the times but I specifically wanted an 8 inch screen so my options were limited. I love this tablet. Now functionally I like it better than my ipad because they don't run certain programs. The one bad thing is that it functions more like a phone as far as viewing some pages in a mobile format but I really don't have any complaints because I basically love my phone I just wanted a larger screen. I use it to watch movies, read articles and surf. I do not use it for work purposes (so I can't review that part of it.) I really love it and get lots of use out of it. I'm very happy with my purchase.
