All I have to say is NICE!!!!!!Upgraded a unit from the 2.33GHz to this 3.16GHz to breath a little more life into it. I've not noticed anything operating particularly faster but that has a lot to do with the Windows 8.1 install being close to a year old. Everything works okay but it's hard to know the quality until a good three to four months of usage. The games I do have installed on it run great (Skyrim, Minecraft, WoW) but they ran well even with the 2.33GHz processor due to the GFX card being such a monster compared to the rest of the aging hardware. The shipping time was excellent so that combined with the fact that it works is why I rated 4 stars. With this upgrade I'll feel better about using the computer as a NAT or LAN gaming server for some of the less CPU intensive games. The unit's specs are as followsRead full review
Replacing the processor on a Dell E6500 was a piece of cake, and after a few days use, it appears to have had virtually no effect on battery life (with a 9-cell + slice, the battery seems to last about 10 hours vs 11 hours with the P8600 2.4 GHz processor). That's more than the 25 watt to 28 watt power specs would imply, but I am still very happy with it. One disappointment is that Ubuntu Linux reports wildly varying values for the time left. I've seen 6600 hours and I've seen 4.5 hours with both batteries full - but after 20 minutes it seems to stablize to 10-11 hours (which is really going to be about an hour short of that). Performance seems better, but I don't have enough experience to say how much: one test (compiling an EFI BIOS) went from about 8 min 40 sec to 8 min 0 sec. 7.7% faster with a 16% faster processor. That seems reasonable, maybe even unexpectedly good.Read full review
I used one of these in an older Dell Inspiron 1545. Along with an SSD, this CPU made a slower laptop into a fast responding one. This is a good chip for speeding up older Dell laptops with T4300 CPUs.

Feels like it's a very nice buy! Upgraded my old Pentium T4200 to Core2Duo P9700. Needed some additional speed for my browser and office apps and virtualization support for running x86-64 bit OS'es in Vbox. P9700 matches perfectly for this needs.

I believe this was an awesome deal and processing speed is substantially increased. I only wish the laptop's chipset supported 16GB!
