This camera takes very good colors, best if on a tripod in lower light situations. The HD video is passable, but do not make your next movie with this camera, use it to do a video study. For a point and shoot though for taking pictures of a home repair, a quick shot of the family, it is very good for the type of camera it is. I am happy with the overall value of the camera, just do not expect to replace your DSLR with this. One thing I noticed is that if you do not want flash, you must disable it right after start-up, as it always reverts to flash mode. It's lightweight feature makes a very handy camera to own. Also, the fact that it takes 2-AA Batteries and does not drain them is a plus. I recommend this camera and in fact I just bought a second one. It's competitor the Canon SX130 takes maybe a little better video (on the yellow side in low light), but has to be converted from .mov format, the Nikon does not, it can be used right out of the box. Also, you better have a lot of batteries on hand with the Canon SX130 since you'll be using a lot of them, the Nikon Coolpix L26 will use the left over drained batteries from other cameras and keep on taking pictures. I do not like to have to set the date and time every time I start a camera after it's been sitting around, It's should be a built in feature. Although the picture quality is very acceptable, mind you this is not a DSLR and so do not think you will be getting that type of quality, but it is very acceptable.Read full review
The camera was purchased for my wife. The 16.1MP feature was motivating for the buck value. Over all a good camera but when the AAA bateries power reduced to a little more than 50% the flash became intermedently undependable, everything else worked fine. At about 75% loss the flash would not work. I'm partial to strong rechargables so it was returned and the seller made a full refund. I than purchased the Nikon S4100 about the same price range that I like much better Over all this is a very good, easy to use point and shoot with extra features, if you don't mind Alkaline batteries.
I really love this camera. I broke my Nikon camera, which was expensive, and needed another one, My daughter bought me a Kodak camera that was expensive, and the colors of the pictures was off. So I had her return it. This camera which was only $30.00, works like a charm. The colors and focus are wonderful.

Well it is my second Nikon camera and I needed something that would be more suited for taking pictures of miniatures, like Hot Wheels cars, model cars and other miniature things as that is my business. I am involved with minitures and I write a column in a magazine about model cars and have to have pictures of the subject with my articles. The Nikon COOLPIX L26 MP Digital Camera fit the bill to a "T", I would highly recommend this camera regardless whether you are taking pictures of a miniature toy or a mountain range, it is compact and fits right in your pocket, so if you are a fan of auto racing, you can take it with you, but you had best carry extra batteries with you. I usually use rechargeable Energizer AA batteries, it takes two, and they usually last a long time (about 8 hours)it has chip that gives you about 300 pictures, and that's only a guess, since mine has 248 pics on it right now and I know I have about 50 more cars to shoot tonight. There is an attachment on the bottom where one can attach a tripod to give the operator more stability to take those pictures that require a steady hand. It has a timed release set on it, where you can take the picture of choice by setting it and stepping back, it has a timer for no-flash or using the flash to get the right exposure. It has a menu with various settings including a Macro for closeups (which I use a lot) and the one drawback is the so-called instruction book doesn't give enough info for operating the camera, so it will require a lot of 'experimenting' and doing on your own. All in all it's a pretty good camera . I highly recommend it.Read full review
I take hundreds of photos and have found that this small camera fits my requirements to a tee. This is my second L26 and I also own an L28 Nikon camera. I carry one of these models with me where ever I go, even on the golf course. I have made some great shots as the camera is always ready when I need it. The best feature I like is that I am able to zoom in on a photo I have made and move around on the photos with the adjustment controls on the back and when I have it the way I want it I can push the "menu" and the camera will save that photo. My Grandson recently worked on my computer and reduced the space that my photos use and found that I have over 16,000 photos stored in my computer. Remember, "best for less".
