Use a small size to your advantage with the VIA Technologies M10000G EPIA Motherboard. Not only does this motherboard, designed for Mini-ITX PC setups, include a Via Apollo CLE266 chipset and a core C3 processor with a data bus speed of 133MHz and 1024MB of installed RAM, it’s housed in a package just 6.69 inches wide by 6.69 inches deep – making it the smallest native X86 mainboard platform on the market when first released. For context, the entire motherboard is approximately the size of a standard DVD case, if not a bit smaller. Designed for Mini iTX PC setups but easy to integrate into many systems, the Via motherboard has the ports, processing power, and integrated support needed for a variety of uses – all while taking up the least amount of space necessary. For everyone from home users to business professionals, the Via UniCrome Pro 2-D/3-D graphics controller and MPEG-2 accelerator make everything from video processing to smooth playback seamlessly. The system is fully compatible across a variety of platforms, including Linux and Microsoft OS, and the Via EPIA packs a bevy of integrated peripherals into one of the smallest packages available with these specs. This motherboard allows for smooth broadband connectivity due to its 10/100 Ethernet support and ATA/133 data transfer speeds; it also includes plenty of bandwidth memory at DDR266 SDRAM. Ultra-compact and highly integrated, the overall multimedia experience that this motherboard provides is bolstered further by 5.1-channel audio output, allowing for clearer and better performance. Additional software features on this motherboard include Flash virus protection and Chassis intrusion detection. The motherboard also includes 1 serial panel, 1 IDE cable, and 1 floppy cable as well as FliteDeck software to get you up and running. An add-on card will even allow for LVDS/DVI integrated support. Even though its small size is the Via’s most obvious initial advantage, the technology in the EPIA motherboard is fluid enough for a variety of uses. This is an adaptable machine that addresses many of the performance issues of similarly sized motherboards. The EPIA-M10000G also manages to do all this while conforming to a Mini-ITX standard, which can make this an appropriate machine for everything from home entertainment setups to an office environment. Even though the VIA does have a legacy floppy connector on it, the entire board only has four layers. There are plenty of ports on the motherboard, including two FireWire ports and four USB 2.0 ports as well as three audio analog ports and an S/PDIF port for digital output. Additionally, the EPIA includes a standard VGA and S-video output to cover all your video needs. Because of the unit’s PCI slot, there is plenty of flexibility in terms of upgrades when it comes to multimedia graphics. Whether you’re looking to downsize or upgrade, the Via manages to integrate a bevy of technology into its small size – it even includes two IDE ports alongside the unit’s DIMM slot. From the layout of the motherboard to the connectivity to the graphic processing capabilities, this motherboard is ideal for experimentation, as well as further integration down the road.
