I found out about this game from a retrospective online. After seeing it, I picked up this game, and was impressed. The graphics for this game are well done for an early Genesis release, and has a in depth story to go with it. However, this game suffers from Metal Gear Solid Syndrome, as cut scenes can last up to 5 minutes or more, and you can't speed up the text. Thankfully, these scenes can be skipped. The game starts out easy, and starts getting hard gradually. Some players may find themselves dying quite a few times before getting to the end. Anyone who's played a Castlevania game will find both the challenge and gameplay to be comparable with the best games in the series during the 8 and 16 bit era. The controls are easy to master, and don't take to long to get use to. The slide mechanic isn't useful all the time, but can be exploited to cross gaps. Overall, if your looking for an alternative to the Castlevania series, this game will fit that bill for you.Read full review

Valis is a great Platformer to grace the Sega Genesis. It is a very rare game. I managed to buy it complete(NM) for $18 off of here. You can probably get it lower than this, but you have to have patience. The graphics were decent for what the Genesis has to offer and the music is cool too. I was used to playing Valis IV, so it took me a while to get used to this one. Valis is quite a challenge, but I managed to beat it. I bought this because I like Valis IV a lot and I wanted to collect other Valis games. Valis fans will definitely enjoy it. If this game is of interest to you, be sure to pick it up. Enjoy.
