Keep in mind that this is the Leica thread mount version of this lens. The major limitation of this 1st version VL 25mm f/4 lens is that it is not rangefinder coupled. Yes, it is not difficult to scale focus the lens. With the included 25mm finder, using this lens on a vintage screw mount Leica body is not a problem. If used on a M mount Leica body with a screw to M adapter, then the major limitation would be if the M body was a Leica M8. The Leica M8 has a built-in 24mm frame line. The problem here is that since this lens is not rangefinder coupled, the built-in frame line will not accurately show the field of view, so for accurate framing, the accessory 25mm finder must be used. With full-frame Leica M bodies, this is not an issue since the accessory 25mm finder would be mounted for use with this lens. But, the limitation on full-frame Leica bodies now becomes a performance issue. With this lens, expect the extreme left and right of the image to have color shift on any full-frame Leica. On the M8 Leica, this is not an issue due to the smaller image sensor. In fact, optical performance of this lens on the M8 is superb, but just keep in mind that the accessory finder must be used.Read full review

25mm is an excellent focal length for street photography and documentary work. It's easy to compose well while shooting quickly or from the hip. The Skopar looks lovely, and is very well designed with a focus lever and click stops at the 1,1,5 and 3 meter marks so you can find focus distances by feel. The lack of range-finder coupling is not a problem; at 24mm there is plenty of depth of field. Wide lenses are easier to hand hold at slower shutter speeds so as long as you are photographing still subjects, the f/4 maximum aperture will not be a huge limitation. The finder is nice and bright. Unlike the M mount version, this lens was originally sold with a finder so if you are looking at a lens that does not include a finder, the price should be at least$125-150 lower then the complete kit. The lens is sharp and contrasty and rejects flare well. The built in hood is a nice touch. This lens is an ideal companion to a Voigtlander Bessa-l, Bessa-R or Leica screwmount camera. It will work on any m-mount camera as well if you have a screw to m mount adapter.Read full review
this is a wonderful lens to use with micro four thirds camera. Its color rendering is fantastic, its sharp and very light. Manual focus is actually for me almost faster in low light then my auto focus lenses. This is a gem of a lens and I highly recommend it. The only downside here when using it with micro four thirds, is that its an F4. What that means is when the light becomes dim, you will be reaching for a higher ISO or a faster lens.
Just perfect. Lens in as new condition. Can use on CLE and on A6000.

This is a Spectacular Lens! Great for stealthy street photography. This lenses field of view is great for shooting from the hip, and the sharpness and clarity of this lens makes it great for shooting at f/8 and having everything in focus. If you are looking to get into the "M" mount systems, this is one of the great in-expensive M lenses to pick up.
