After struggling a couple days trying to get the remote WiFi to connect with the camera, it has been easy to use and takes nice photos and video. One thing I wasn't happy to learn from usage, which isn't stated anywhere in the information, is that time lapse photos are only shot in 2MP instead of 11.9MP mode. I use the camera on a wingtip of my airplane and it has a good aerodynamic shape for that, compared to boxy cameras like GoPro. The remote works well from inside the cockpit to control the camera and to start/stop video or stills. At high speed (over 150mph) there is more vibration from wind turbulence than the steady shot stabilization can handle, so I shoot mostly time lapse stills than video, which made the 2MP resolution for time lapse photos a real disappointment to discover after flying and reviewing the shots. Other than that, it is a very nice little action camera.Read full review

Sony HDR-AZ1 is a very good action Camara overall. The sound quality is especially good. That's the major reason I bought it. However, the single most significant defect of the camera is that it doesn't have a universal 1/4 inch tripod nut. In stead, it has a smaller M4 nut that only works with Sony specific accessories. If you lost your tripod adapter, it's almost impossible to get another one. Make sure your package come with the tripod adapter before you purchase the camera.

I got this amazingly small camera because of its 50 Mbit/second bit rate. I find bit rate is a big factor in image quality. Provided this camera has enough light, it does give a very nice image. Because the sensor is small, it needs a lot of light. It is great for outdoors, of course and works for interior shots in brightly lit rooms. Anything darker than that and it starts getting noisy. The noise and the fisheye lens distortion can be corrected to a degree with software. One cool thing about this camera is that you don't need to buy the remote control unit. You can operate it from a phone or tablet. I wanted to use this not as an action camera but as an unobtrusive interview camera that could go on a table between two people doing a restaurant review. The small size is great for that, but the need for light limits it to bright settings, so I probably will not use it after all. Not the camera's fault--that's not what it was built for.Read full review

Easy to use, has many fun features & is so small you can carry it in your pocket! Love the live view remote too, you can take pics/video with the press of a button on your wrist and frame the shot with the screen.
