The chipset maker supplied downloadable drivers to TP-Link that have signed kernel extensions. They work fine. I had a NewerTech/Max Power usb adapter that worked up until El Capitan but did not have drivers with signed kernel extensions. This adapter seems to be less promiscuous than the last. It takes longer to connect to open networks, but is more stable when it does. I have a MacBook Pro and the internal Airport card doesn't pick up much inside the apartment where I live. With this adapter and a 3 foot usb 2.0 extension I can hang the receiver by the window and pick up almost 40 wireless access points. The Tx speed on a weak station ( 30%) was 200kiB + when downloading Apple updates.

I just received 6 of these and even the ad clearly describes these as "new"- its obvious that these aren't new. The boxes show signs of wear look like they've all been opened ..and the adapters don't appear to be new as they show slight signs of use and weren't sealed to the front with clear plastic as every other "new" T2U's ive bought. On the upside the price is reasonable for a used (working) T2U. So far 1 of the 6 I bought isn't functioning. I'll update this review when ive tested them all.

I got this product because I am in an apartment where 2.4 GHz is extremely congested, and because my router is in another room, my desktop's internet access was very lumpy. Nicely, my ISP's supplied router also has a 5 GHz radio. Installation of this product was trivial with the enclosed CD, and in seconds, my desktop was on the air, and I was connecting to the 5 GHz radio in my router. Wow, what a difference! :) It is noteworthy that this product can 'see' many more 2.4 GHz routers than could my desktop which actually has an antenna on the back. I would not hesitate to buy this product again.

This is a great product to add wifi to, upgrade wifi or fix wifi issues without needing to buy a new PC or laptop! Set up was incredibly easy and flawless. Strong, consistent, reliable signals and connections. And I love that I am able to now connect in 2 bands (2.4 ghz, 5 ghz) instead of just than just the 2.4 ghz of my failed internal wifi card. Being able to connect with 5 ghz has sped up my connection speed so I am now getting the speed I was promised by my internet provider. For those considering buying a wifi adapter: There are newer adapters offering higher data transmission speeds but remember that your connection will only be as fast as the slowest link in that loop. For example, if your internet service provides 20 or 50 or 100 mbps max speed, buying an adapter that offers more than that will not actually provide more than that 20 or 50 or 100 mbps speed. So, don't bother buying one of those higher priced, higher end adapters if your internet service, router and/or type of USB port won't support those higher speeds.Read full review

My laptop wireless adapter died. Great and affordable replacement. Superior wireless coverage and way faster than my old adapter. My only criticism is it does stick out from the usb port by an inch. Just have to be careful when transporting.
