This used CPU has low $/core. If your jobs are heavily parallelized, then this is a great CPU given its modern instruction set and good FLOPs (search for PassMark ratings). In our case, it made a good upgrade from our existing 2 CPU, 16 core system to 32 cores. It is probably not the best option if you are building a new system as current Xeon offerings are significantly faster, use DDR4, and have more cores/CPU.

I got four of these to replace the 8-core 61xx Opterons in my virtualization server. I got them used, but they still run like new. Replacement was easy and I now have twice as many cores and many more features on chip.

This CPU is not very expensive now and it is possible to get 25% more perfomance changing 62xx CPU. I Change my 6276 CPU to 6378 and get about 25% more perfomance in single core operations and about 15-20% in memory operations. Multicore boost in not so big, but may be it depends on tests. If you have a big (or small and cheap) system based on Opteron 62xx and a lot of DDR3 memory, you can get more 25% of perfomance just changing a CPU.

Worked perfect in an aging Dell R615 that had 6138 CPU's in it and could not run VMware ESXi 6.7, now it can boot the 7.0 installer with no errors. I installed all the latest BIOS and Firmware from Dell before trying this upgrade.
