I was surprised at how well my new MiFi 6620L works. It easily reaches >25 Mbps and I have great signal everywhere I go (except a few spots on my train commute into Washington, D.C.). Long battery life and solid signal make it a great device for remote work and internet use. I strongly recommend the 6620L for anyone who needs a portable internet solution in addition to data sharing on a cell phone plan.

It uses up data like mad, a gig a day even when my computer does very little, and NO updates for my computer are being downloaded. Rapidly hits the data usage point where speeds are throttled to a snail's pace, dialup is faster at that point. Wifi turns on and off at random, but usb tethering still works consistently. The control settings buttons are slow to react when selecting modes. Not an excellent product by any means. I am going back to an old fashioned usb broadband modem ..........

I went from the simple 890L to this. The 890L didn't allow me much control but it just worked. It was very simple. This one is more complex which is nice. It allows more links, has more features, saves more devices, etc. I value most that it still has a removable battery, and can be used as an external charger. Con: It hasn't seemed to learn my local towers yet so signal strength isn't caught up to what my 890L was over the last 4 years.

Replacing an older Verizon wifi jet pack. Took it to local Verizon store where they helped me set it up. They said it looked good. Took it home, fired it up and had better reception than I had had in years . I'm in a mountainous area of difficult reception so this is a complement to the product.

The product is well made and functions reasonably well. I am in the Carolina mountains and reception is better in some parts of the house. The reason I do not recommend it is because of data usage. It is not a replacement for cable or dsl because of metered data usage. For twenty bucks a month you get a device you can carry and use occasionally while on trips.
