Over the years, I've collected a lot of files: eBooks, audio books, music & software. After copying everything to one partitioned drive, the data is easily accessible... as long as I'm sitting in front of the host machine. The LinkStation provided me with the opportunity to use it as the primary storage and the local drive as backup. Now, I have access from anywhere on the network, wired or wireless. Even more, there is secure internet access to any designated folder. Although set-up was easy, it's not as obvious as it might be and, for my own comfort, I created a couple of shortcuts to the functions I need. Other than that, it met all my expectations. BTW, I have had positive experience with Buffalo products before and that was certainly a contributing factor.
It does what it advertised to do, I am happy with it at a good price.
