Purchased this Surface Pro 4 for my daughter, who is a junior in high school. This performs so much better than expected. The display is fantastic and bright. The battery still lasts all day with casual use by a student. Using the new 2018 Pen (purchased separately) has been great for note taking and writing out calculus problems. The keyboard (purchased separately) exceeds expectations. We were originally concerned the keyboard would be too flimsy for casually placing on the lap. It actually works quite well with little effort for balancing. Typing on this is a joy. Even the trackpad doesn't disappoint for someone spoiled by the Force Touch Trackpad on MacBook Pros. There is no regret for purchasing the Surface Pro 4 even with the release of the Surface Pro 6.

1yr after i bought it the screen started flickering and it is now no longer useable. It seems to be related to heat. If you attempt to watch video content of any kind on this machine you will only get about 5-10mins in before the screen starts going crazy. Contacted MSFT and they will not repair or replace the item. If you think spending $500 for a machine that will work for maybe 1yr is a good deal then go for. Otherwise avoid this machine. Maybe newer versions do not have this issue but it does exist on my Surface pro 4.

Form, Fit, and Function are absolutely amazing. It's the perfect size for carrying around, much nicer than my old macbook and significantly lighter! I love being able to use it like a tablet to draw/sketch, read and it's great as a computer for classes and not taking. I have Adobe CC on here and I love the touch integration on Illustrator and InDesign. I still prefer my wacom tablet to drawing directly on the screen for Photoshop but I did download Graphiter which is amazing for sketches on the go. Pen works amazingly well in that program and in one note where I use it the most. Most of all I love the battery life and battery savery feature. If I'm doing low-key (non-adobe) stuff then I can get about 6-8 hours of use out of my computer now.

This replaced a 7 year old notebook. It does much more then I expected. I did add a keyboard, docking station and a 19" screen. When i need a computer to take with me, I just unplug the docking station, in about 2 seconds and I'm ready to travel. It's a very fast computer and there is no long boot up to start. I will be adding a 256K memory chip for extra storage space. The graphics are terrific and all of my programs have been installed and work very well. The docking station allows me to use 2 different thermal tag printers along with my 2 network printers as well. I am also using a full size wireless keyboard when in the office. This set up replaces both a notebook and a desktop for me.

Coming from an iPad air and MacBook air. Working professional starting business school and needed something that was portable and would run business software, went with SP4 based on reviews. Not disappointed with quality, performance or value. Only reason it's not five stars is the battery life. Compared to both my Mac "airs" the SP4's battery is average; will make it one day under normal use but under heavy use (I.e., streaming vid, excel up and pdf's open) this model requires a "snack charge" to make it through a business day; a must to carry a charger along. Still overall, the only real choice for business use.
