I bought this mobo to replace a faulted mobo. It was a small case, C521, and this E521 replacement looked like it would do the trick. There was about a 40.00 dollar difference between the two, which is a lot when to are reselling them. Needless to say, this board was just a tiny bit too big for the original case. I ended up getting a full size case that worked great and scrapped the small one. This motherboard works great, has plenty expansion if you want to add memory, video card, wifi, etc. It is a BTX board, so you have to put it in the right case. Dell has their claws in the thing, so you have to use the right front panel to connect this thing and get usb and sound to the front w/o errors. Do some homework cause it seems to matter if the front panel was for an AMD or Intel board. I had to switch mine. These boards seem to give a good 5+ years of service on average too. At least dell quit messing with the power supplies so you can add a real beefy one if you wanted to use a nice video card with this board. My advice is check your part numbers and specs before purchasing. I knew I was taking a gamble but for the most part everything was good to go for the original case. I just didn't see that there was absolutely NO room for a bigger board. Either way, it worked out. I would have liked to keep the smaller case. I had a friend who gave me the larger case for free and I had to dremel the I/O shield and peel the sticker off the old case and transplant it to the new. Thank you dell for that ignorant choice to NOT use I/O shields like the rest of the planet. This board is running like a champ in its new home and you can't tell the difference.Read full review
This is a really good motherboard for the dell E521 and the AMD prossor I paired mine with a Athlon 64 x2 3 g 64bit cpu, Its a good board for the price I, got it for, Thy are hard to find now that the E521 is no longer being made. One peace of advice about this board that I can give coz I found out the hard way. Is if you can find it New then buy it. But don't make the same mistake I, did and buy used thy don't always work even if the ad states that it dose don't chance it. I have been building pc's for 30 plus years and have my own business and I, well never buy and used board like this again
