Item works as described. I held off for over a year getting one of these. I don't really play games with my VR headset, but even for movies or videos on find it easier than reaching up and fumbling with the buttons on the side of the headset. Wish I got it sooner!

Awful product that is actually out of date. .
It won't connect with the required software properly installed in my phone, which also makes my phone a a front for Facebook advertisersand ongoingalerts for commercial notifications. Samsung has also dropped supprort for this awful thing, which says a lot. It's interesting that the cheap remote that came free with the tripod I bought worked perfectly out of the box with no annoying waste of timee installing software that doesn't wotk, or jumping through hoops trying to link this thing to my phone. Considering how awful the sound quality is on our Samsung TV, I've placed Samsung at the top of my list of brands to avoid. The remote looks nice, but sadly is not strong enough to use as a hammer or garden spade. It feels great in your hand and the buttons and touch pad work great. It doesn't work with all the games, so if you plan on actually “buying games”, you better make sure it's compatible with that specific game first. Takes (2) - AAA batteries and is made specifically for Samsung compatible phones and the gear vr headset. It's compatible from the Note5 to the present galaxy phone. All in all, it's a pretty neat little motion controller, The Good: This controller makes navigating through menus much more convenient since it acts like a virtual laser pointer. Easy set up, very intuitive also works great for all the new content in oculus. Games that use the controller are made much the better for it, as the natural "point and shoot" mechanics feel so immersive, and there are new apps showing up quite often. The Bad: There is no positional tracking of the controller, only rotational and tilt tracking. Also there is no vibration at all to simulate actions in VR (i.e. shooting a gun). Together, these limit the final immersive feeling of the VR controller. The batteries are also not rechargeable. Finally, you will have to recenter your controller a lot in-app, but it's a single button press process, so you can pretty much ignore this problem.

Despite numerous attempts - following the included instructions to the letter - I am unable to get this thing to work with my Samsung Gear VR (which it is purportedly designed to work with). It may be the greatest piece of hardware ever produced for all I know, but with poor directions and no product support it is utterly useless. Don't buy one with the expectation of being able to figure it out from the directions. You absolutely need one of these if you are going into gear vr and they are made well feel sturdy and a nice little weight to it. Super easy to setup and use and so nice and fun for anything you'd normally do for entertainment on your phone. Takes 2 triple a batteries but it comes with 2 and a wrist strap. Couldn't have asked for a better product.
