I ordered this PogoPlug with idea to attach my own external hard drives (with USB interface) to my router at home. So, I was expecting to find that it would be easy to map my attached HDDs as network drives. Something like this: 192.168.O.12 USBDisk_1 192.168.O.12 USBDisk_2 192.168.O.12 USBDisk_3 192.168.O.12 USBDisk_4 How difficult would it be! Oh, boy, I was wrong! Here's the list of problems I ran into with this device: 1. It was impossible to make this unit work right "out of box". My router sees it and assigns the IP address. But that was it. There was no way I could access my own hard drives plugged within my own home network from my own computer. When I entered IP address in browser all I saw was a blank screen. 2. There's no installation or easy instructions how to map my network drives using this PogoPlug. Instead, all I got was a referral to manufacture's web site demanding me to install some extra software on my computer and subscribe for services that cost $50 per year! 3. After installing the recommended software in trial mode my computer got messed up. That software did NOT do anything, Instead it acted just like a spyware: indexing and searching throughout all my computer and all my existing network drives! Something that this device should have no business connecting to. 3. Uninstalling that software felt like cleaning my system from viruses. I had to manually remove some leftover components. It really feels like I deal with viruses and spyware. Conclusion. Decent hardware, but very much lousy software. Until manufactures brings this device to existing standards, it has NO VALUE. There's no way I would recommend it even my worst enemy! What a waste of money!Read full review
