I woke up on Christmas Day to find that my Mac Pro Early 2009 had stopped working. After checking and imaging my Start Up drive using my MacBook Pro and a hard drive Doc, I ordered this computer. (Note: I used dd and super-duper for disk cloning and image creation during different phases of the process) The Mac Pro 2010 arrived on New Years Eve day and was very well packaged. I connected it to my display and powered it up. Came up right away into OSX Sierra. Was able to log in and then upgrade to High Sierra. It did require a firmware upgrade which was a quick and flawless procedure. After some work using Migration Assistant, see below, I then pulled the drive, loaded a clone of my old Mac Pro's startup drive and the computer started right up into OSX El Capitan. I was able to go directly into High Sierra from the APP Store. Although I had issues with software some of which required new licensing, the experience was a success. Note: I did try using Migration Assistant to update a clean High Sierra drive. But I ran problems with software and user permissions. Thus I went to the process described above. The Mac Pro 2010 added sever features that I didn't have on my Mac Pro 2009 including WiFI, Dual Display Ports, High Sierra support. So if you are looking to replace or backup a Mac Pro, I highly recommend this seller and this unit.Read full review

The purpose of this purchase was to upgrade from a mac pro 1,1 audio workstation to a mac pro system that could be upgraded to the latest OS. Dropbox, Chrome, and several browser extensions had dropped support for OS 10.7 necessitating the hardware upgrade. Upgrading to a 2010 mac pro 5,1 was the cheapest, quickest and most effective step I could take to remain the mac ecosystem. Consider I spent $476 on this upgrade. Compare that to the price of upgrading to a better mac pro (2010 higher processor count/speed, 2012 version, etc..) or the time it would take to purchase, assemble and configure a comparable hackintosh. I'm not sure I could do better quicker for the same or less money. To prepare for the upgrade, all i had to do was purchase a couple DVI to mini display adapters and a firewire 400 to 800 cable. I deauthorized some software from my old system, and that was it. Once that was done, I simply transferred my OS 10.7 hard drives from the 1,1 drive sleds into the 5,1 drive sleds and slapped them in, and performed the long OS upgrade. I reauthorized the software now in its "new" tower, and it worked perfectly. There is no discernable improvement in performance, but that wasn't the point. I would recommend this procedure for anyone who wants to upgrade an older than 5,1 mac tower quickly and cheaply. 2010 Mac PRo 5,1s are currently the sweet spot for balancing price and future utility. Just make sure your peripherals can still interface as you want them to and you manage your software authorizations.Read full review

This computer is very reliable and stable. For this much power, it's has a very good value for the price ($575). I have 2 of these and I am very happy with the performance. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a well designed and long lasting computer tower.

....Great performance especially after my upgrade w/ MACMOTIVE....!! ....No complaints here...excellent machine....(am FIRST TIME user)... Am impressed... Anyone who wants to try APPLE MAC Machines... here's good place to start & NOT from the bottom, of course... (Have been using WINDOWS for as long as I can remember...-plus LINUX systems...) I'll say this much, since 15-20 yrs. ago APPLE has come a long way to the POSITIVE side... much easier interfase and more hardware compatibility...
They say you get what you paid for, that saying rings truth in this case. I've always been a fan of Macs and this one tops them all. The one I purchased is old but worth the buy because the specs are exactly what I need in my field of design. This Mac wasn't new so it did have marks and signs of wear but I didn't notice that in it's performance which is great. Most people are skeptical about buying used products especially online because you can't test it before you buy it but when your buying a Mac, about 90% will be in tip top shape because they hold their value. This one is a Mid-2010 but is as fast as it was in 2010 and still faster than some desktops today. And it's fully upgradable , can't beat that. Bottom Line: great product for its, I have bought and will buy again.
