We think that this set is one of the best options for beginners. The quality of the set is okay compared to other beginners set in the same price range. Perhaps the one con to consider here is that it doesn't arrive with instructions. You'll have to set it up with a drummer friend who know's how to assemble it. Beginning drummers do not need a very expensive 10-piece drum set with special recording equipment and a drum screen. No, a beginner needs a solid 5-piece drum set that will last for a couple of years. The set reviewed in this is a good option for every beginner.

I've been drumming for about 35 years and this is a great value! In my opinion these drums are better than Pulse, GP and PDP by far. The drum heads included don't sound bad at all but look like they wont take much hard playing. You can upgrade for about $20. The only real down side was the cymbals... as expected. The 14" crash/ride and the 12" hi-hat cymbals are terrible but will do for a beginner. Assembly is required but it's not complicated. Just take care not to over tighten or unevenly tighten the heads and tear them. Also, placing a pillow inside the bass drum helps a lot!

I am not a drummer. I am a sound tech that bought these drums for our garage jam parties. I did buy new heads to use on them. I had 2 different pro drummers put them together and tune them for me. Both of these drummers were very impressed with what I got for the price and will play them during our parties. The cymbals are the worst I've ever heard and are being replaced. The drums themselves sound very good and when I get mics on them this weekend, they will probably be great. I can't believe a kit this cheap can sound as good as it does. I very much recommend this kit for beginners or use as a practice set. This set will be shared by a few different drummers and I believe they will all be satisfied with it. These drummers own kits from DW, Tama, Pearl, Ludwig, and they like this kit too. I put mics on them Saturday, and they sounded awesome. Every drummer loved them.Read full review

Sturdy construction, fairly easy to put together. Drums sound good, cymbals not so much (as others have noted). My only complaints: believe sent junior size snare stand instead of adult (luckily is tall enough for me) and mounted toms should be more toward front of bass drum-not easy to reach with snare in front of bass drum. That's why gave 4 stars instead of 5.

First: There needs to be a simple YouTube video produced to help clarify the assembly process. The drum key was not found until I was nearly done. Also, tuning drums can be a delicate process. I found a good app for that at Drumtune Pro for $8. The kit was a gift for my 13 year old daughter. She loves it! Thank you!
