I bought this for a few reasons.First I had a 400 lumen light and I ride a fair amount in the dark and it wasnt quite bright enough so I was in the market for an 800 lumen light as this was the best compromise between size and brightness. Next, I had a Garmin Edge 830 and I knew this would integrate with it and I liked the idea of automatic headlights so I dont have to remember to turn them on . It works great and didnt really cost that much more than a non Garmin 800 lumen light. Battery life is not amazing. I pretty much charge up after every ride if I used it as a headlight to light my path and every other day if it was just day riding. The variable light feature is cool but I find the automatic nature to be the biggest benefit to me. Also this light works well as a standalone light without a Garmin head unit. Obviously its slightly pricey if you dont use the automatic features but its still very usable on a quick commute if you dont need to break out the bike computer. addendum after a season of use: realistically most riders who use this type of system will likely be riding fast enough that the light will always be on maximum intensity so the battery savings is really not a practical argument. Unless you are the one guy with a $500-bike computer, a $100 light and a cheap bike who rides at 12mph.............lets get real. the battery life is a problem. I find at maximum intensity I now get only 45 minutes and you cant hook up a battery pack to it to extend the light like many other brands. The light shuts off while charging and wont connect to the computer while charging. I have relegated this light to flashing mode trips only since I normally ride for longer than the light can work at night at full intensity. So its daylight only and I use another light ( cheaper) with much better battery life but no computer control for night rides. Its too bad because I like the conceptRead full review

When I first turned on this light I was shocked by the power this has, it is much brighter then any bike light I have seen, its even more my maglights and portables and I use high end stuff. The brain brings additional safety, it can be controlled by many of the Edge head units, I can for examlle turn the headlight on, off and configure with the varia remote pad on the handlebars,or use the edge remote on the other side, i barely need to lift a hand. I would reccomemd it with no reservations, its very well made and the simple twist lock you can disconnect it for charging or toss in a backpack if parked at a mall.

This is a great light. Very bright, and the interface with the Garmin 1030 makes it easy to use and control. The mount is strong and stable...it stays put once it is tightened up on the bar. Great feature...It turns on and off when the GPS is turned on and off...this makes it easy at stops. Highly Recommended.

Great light, extremely bright at night and it last for a long time. If you have the budget go for it, you won’t regret.

Love the light! Very bright! I have it paired with the Garmin 830 and a 515TL. Works great, light auto adjusts to surroundings.
