I was a little concerned about mounting the Garmin Edge directly to the stem.....I figured it would shock the heck out of it. Not so. For one....the Garmin is SUPER light. Also....in the pics and directions shown online, it says you remove one of your 5mm spacers. I have (had) no spacers ABOVE the stem. (Mountain Bike). This mount mounts DIRECTLY under your stem cap! Center it up as you tighten the caps' capscrew to spec, and it looks GREAT! IDEALLY, (in a perfect world), you could just pull a 5mm spacer from your stack, and your capscrew would work fine.....you took 5mm from UNDER the stem, and added 5mm on top with the mount.....total length remains the same. BUT....I could NOT sacrifice ANY stem height, and as I'd already added a 5mm spacer to my stack to get the stem up, adding 5mm more to the overall height (with the mount), my capscrew was too short! But, fortunately, Paul B. Zimmerman Hardware in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, stocks STAINLESS SOCKET HEAD CAPSCREWS in lengths up to 50mm long!! (I needed a 40mm). Just make sure that if you're like me and can't sacrifice any stem height, that your capscrew is long enough!! This very important! I only had MAYBE 4 threads of engagement, and I did not feel safe.....especially on a MTB. Now...this has NOTHING to do with the quality or recommendation of this mount!!!! It is a great mount, SECURELY holds that expensive little Garmin, and looks GREAT!!Read full review
