This is a near-copy of the Russian WW II PU rifle scope. It has the same three-post reticule that moves in the field of view. Windage/elevation knobs are marked in mils rather than minutes – the Russians were ahead of us. Windage is 10-0-10. There are no clicks but very high friction. Focus is fixed at about 150M. Basic construction seems identical to the PU. This is a 1" (25.4 mm) scope instead of 26.5 mm as for the PU. Screw on caps cover the W/E knobs – an improvement. The model I bought has an adjustable ocular -- very helpful for us old guys but it reduces eye relief which is a consideration on high-recoil rifles. Original PU scopes have elevation calibration in range for 7..62x54R ammunition; this is in mils: Should be 0-20 (or so) but my scope is 10-0-10 as for windage -- maybe the wrong part was installed? The PU's were COMBAT scopes – no wimpiness there. Snipers were expected to make 50% hits on a man-size target at 800 m. I don't think you can buy another scope at this price that holds zero as well. These scopes are an obvious choice for any rifle that accepts the original PU mount – the Mosin of course (eye relief may be a problem with the adjustable ocular) but also the SKS and AK-47 with a suitable aftermarket base and mounts. They might be adapted to some other rifles, although the need to align the tube with the rifle barrel will have to be handled with shims, a wedge base, etc. I've tested mine on a Ruger 10/22 and will look at a Mini-14 install in the future. Scope caps can be made from PVC pipe caps and elastic cord. You can adjust the focus for shorter range by loosening the objective lens a bit – it's correctly focused when the reticule doesn't move on the target when you move your head a bit. Secure the objective with a bit of black nail polish. You will have to re-zero after changing the focus.Read full review

The glass is clear and the markings on the adjustment knobs are easy to read.

Scope seems well made and easy enough to sight in but eye relief is only a couple of inches too close with much recoil
