Each is marked for grit and mesh size on the reverse side and come in color coded vinyl covers.. Can be used wet or dry. Unlike many other diamond sharpening plates, these do not have slots or grooves in the surface making the whole surface available for cutting. When dealing with small objects like electric razor cutting blades the solid cutting surface facilitates honing. It would make sense to dry the sharpeners after use with water to prevent corrosion of the backing which appears to be some type of ferrous (magnetic) steel. .
