Excellent materials, flawless craftsmanship, wonderful, very balanced sound. Mine is a 1998 made-in-Vancouver, mahogany B&S model. I have been experimenting with different brands, types, and gauges of strings. They all sound great, but I like the 80/20 brass 12-54 strings best so far. I bought my Larrivee D-03 Mahogany used and in near-perfect condition w/the original case and got a great deal because so many players are unfamiliar with the brand. IMHO the quality is equal to or better than anything else I've played in over 45 years of playing and owning many fine instruments.

Wanted to try a Larrivee guitar and chose the L-03R because of the Rosewood Back and sides. I have not been disappointed. It has a sound very similar to my Martin D-28.

Martins used to be the gold standard that other guitars are measured by. Now there is a frenzy of people who don't think so and consider Taylors or Larrivees superior.. Well, the Larrivees are, but the Taylor's aren't. Larrivees have a tonal spectrum far beyond the Martin's Bass heavy or the Taylor's treble heavy response, a balanced sound across the whole spectrum. With it's Rosewood Back and sides, it may be the best guitar I've ever heard!!!
