Actually it probably is if you are into old world theories and analysis of evidence---sort of Medieval CSI stuff. It really gives a lot of detail into this period of history and tells of the many characters that are somehow linked or involved in the deaths of the young boys. It also tells of how someone that was appointed to protect his own blood most likely turned against thhe very young boys so he could fulfill his desire for greed. And it also tells of how the opeople reacted to such news that the princes had disappeared and how rulers of other countries turned their backs on the English ruler because of suspicion. It also tells of the Queen' of England's horror in discovering that she had delivered both her sons and rightful heirs to the throne to the man most likely responsible for their deaths. Paints history with a lot of good detail. Occasionally there are a couple of dull pages here and there but that is to be expected when reading history. This makes for a really good book to keep for reference for writing assignments on the period or for history buffs that like to learn for the sake of learning. The theories are pretty explicit and the evidence that backs the ones that appear valid and probable. The book really can get your miind visualizing someone creeping into the bedrooms of these young boys and smothering them to death in their own beds. Also it tells of the original use of the Tower of London as a well guarded prison. I will read this again in due time as it is a book where I would relearn or notice something each time that I flipped through it that I had either overlooked, forgotten or not noticed before.Read full review
Alison Weir makes history more like a "whodunit" mystery rather than some dry, old recitation of the facts. She gives historical figures a presence and makes this chapter of history regarding The Princes in the Tower come alive. Most enjoyable! Victoria Ent
I thought it would be a novel, story. Reads like a textbook. Started it and had to stop, even though I'm extremely interested in subject matter.
