Power button on the dock can start the laptop without opening the laptop and pressing the power button on the laptop, and you can keep the lid shut while using the computer.

A great item to have if you need to always use the laptop in a desk mode (hooked to monitors, keyboard, and mouse) and a mobile mode. Also, it is thin and doesn't take much of space. I like it much better than a port replicator (I use both). I would have given it 5 starts if it had a light (indicator) on the power button to light up, when you click the button to turn on the laptop.

I've used several Thinkpad docking stations over the years and without exception, every one has exceeded my expectations. They are well designed and made of quality materials.
