Got this and the M42 adapter so that I could use the old Takumar lenses from my Pentax Spotmatic film camera. Works great. Nice and sturdy and the image quality is good for an older camera. Just glad to use my lenses on a digital camera. You are able to use the focus detector with the manual lenses and adapter as well with this camera which is a huge help. This is my first digital SLR camera and I hope to learn as much as possible on this before upgrading to a more expensive and complicated camera. Great value.

This is one of the first DSLR's with In Body Stabilization and even today works well. It was Pentax's top of the line camera when made and it feels it when in operation. By today's standards it suffers the most on any ISO setting above 200. But if you can shoot at ISO 100 it makes images that hold up today. They have a different quality to them it is a completely different kind of sensor than made today. This was my first DSLR and I wore my first out, I shot it to death. These cameras can be kicked around rained on and generally abused and they don't care. If I had a kid interested in photography I would get him one of these and glue it on manual it is a great joy to shoot this thing with RAW files on manual. The Raw files are 16 MB's plenty of info to make a huge print if needed. Just today I got another scruffy looking one and it was like picking up an old friend, it works perfectly.Read full review

The Pentax K10d is a good size for medium to large hands. The image reminds one of film camera photo's. The battery extension is a great accessory.

First off, it only gets a GOOD rating from me because of one reason and one reason only... the FPS. Other then that this camera is tops in its class and deserves an excellent; but I think we will see the speed with the yet to be released K1D! It easily exceeds the competition, even such cameras much higher in price! Pentax really changed the playing field with the introduction of the K10D! Weather/Dust sealed body, anti-dust sensor technology, in body image stabilization, thousands of compatible lens (all which become IS), excellent image quality, super performance! Noise, if you use Neat Image, is not an issue, ISO1600 images end up every bit as good as the low noise Canon CMOS. The Pentax kit lens is far superior to Canon's, and is actually worth purchasing! The general ergonomics of this camera make it a pleasure to shoot! As already mentioned about lenses, but I love the fact of being able to slap on my 20yr. old Novoflex 400mm f/5.6 and having it be image stabilized!Read full review
Many people remember Pentax fondly from the 35mm days but it's a brand that's all too often overlooked in the digital world. The Pentax K10D camera came out in 2006 and was one of their flagship models at the time. These days, it's still an excellent choice if you can live with 10.1 megapixels and you don't need video capabilities. This is a very sophisticated, feature-packed, weather resistant camera body that's capable of delivering professional quality results on a budget. One great thing about Pentax DSLRs is they are compatible with any Pentax K-mount lens ever made. Any K-mount lens will work pretty much like it did on a 35mm Pentax body. If you're not hung up on those big camera names, you know, the ones that start with 'C' and 'N', you can get a whole lot more camera for the money with a Pentax.Read full review
