Overall, the game is fun, but it gets repetitive and lacks excitement. Since the plot is almost exactly the same as the movie, there are almost no surprises. Movement is primitive, and Ron and Hermione often get in your way when you're trying to walk around. Hermione appears fatter than she looked in the movie... Potions class is probably the most fun--you add ingredients, stir your pot and blow on the fire--but herbology is extremely boring. All you do is tap plant pots in sequence to make plants grow. Astronomy starts out very easy but quickly becomes extremely difficult. the navigation of Hogwarts is cool because it's like the movie, but I started to dread going anywhere because it takes forever to get from one place to another up and down all those halls and staircases. These are the reasons I rate the game average. Nothing special.Read full review
Harry Potter is back again for another adventure. Beginning of game sucked, I was like these are the graphics. This game would suck if it was based on the graphics. Luckly enough there's more to graphics. Cool little mini games to do each spell, is fun at first but may get repeative. There's also "Wizard Duels" which I think are pretty cool. I'm 30% complete with the game and I've been playing it for about 5 hours. There's also a cool point system to make your character more stronger during the Wizard Duels. Your also forced to play mini games with 6 different levels of difficulty, that must be completed because of course your Harry Potter. Also the map is big, I would have got lost plenty of times, but there's a little white arrow that tells you what direction you'll go. Besides the graphics it sucks when people are talking because there ugly face shows up then you have to read through text. I would hope to have some voice acting or cut scenes from the movie but no. It's lacking in that department. It's a good game if you have the time and money but if not I would suggest it to only Harry Potter fans.Read full review
I like it its really easy though perhaps too easy for teens or adults. when you get to the level where you are in the tower with the asian young girl I couldnt figure out what needs to be done to complete the level. i dont think the objective is hard but it must be a flaw in the design of the game. also you have to walk around alot it the game. they make the school so big that it takes to long to get to your missions.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is just like walking through the movie. There's little to no Heads-up displays like health bars or whatever to get in the way of the beautiful visuals. You can do all sorts of side-quests with people like Nearly-Headless Nick and earn points to make your spells stronger. The DS controls seemed a little tacked-on, but didn't hurt the game in any way. If you love Harry Potter you HAVE to get this game! Happy Gaming ^_^
I read the mixed reviews but decided to purchase this anyway. I whipped thru the game (as some others have said) and was ready to resell it......but then I thought, "there just HAS to be more to the game....I must have missed something". You really need to read thru the booklet that comes with the game. I had never checked the bullitin board in the Gryffindor common room to know that I was supposed to be practicing all the spells and playing the mini games. And I didn't check all the objects (stones, rolled up carpets, etc.) on my fist time thru the castle and grounds. Went back and started playing the game again.....and I am definitely enjoying it much more this time. Decided not to resell, it's a keeper :)
