Wow, this game is a lot to digest. Fun and rewarding for those who enjoy a combination of strategy and action in a simulator setup, but ... don't expect to turn this game on and play immediately. Fortunately, there are tutorial options in the beginning. Even those are time consuming. At the end of the day, Battle Stations Pacific has depth and detail with a lot of engaging levels. However, it takes time to learn and much more to complete this follow-up to Battle Stations Midway. If you've played the Midway game and liked it then this one has even more to offer. Takes a bit longer to conquer, has more involved scenarios and now you can play the Japanese side in a story-line campaign mode as well. If ya need a first person shooter that's quick and easy then this may not be the game for you. But if you're a chess type with a thirst for learning and a hunger to be deeply involved as a game unfolds then you've come to the right place, especially if you appreciate history. A variety of campaigns await you ... Enjoy!Read full review
Battlestations Pacific is a great ww2 action-stradegy type game with splendid graphics of beatiful islands, clear water, and feriocous sea battles. The planes are easy to control but still gives you the feel of a flight simulater game. The vessels widely vary from transports to great battleships! You fight in the air, on and in the sea, and even use your arttilary to help your little marines on the ground. The mass battles are what I like most about the game. The 2 differant storys also leads for a greater amount of off-line fun! You can lead the Japenese empire from Pearl Harbour to final victory and a grand invasion of hawaii! Or you can play as the U.S. and lead U.S. Forces in landing after landing as you lead your forces closer to Tokyo. If you finish the thrilling stories you can play the skirmish modes. You get to Play aganst the computer or other players in many types of grand battles! There is: -Escort: You can play as a defender defending cargo ships or be the team attacking the fleet! -Siege: You Either can be defending a stronghold or be attacking one. The first one to make the enemy team run out of points (you lose them when your units get destroyed) or if the stronghold falls. -Dual: You pick a unit type a duke it out against the enemys ships of the same type. -Island capture: My personal Favorite, you start out with money to buy units which you use to capture islands. Capturing islands gives you money for more units. By the time you meet the enemy you each hold several islands. It becames a huge battles as each side trys to take over each others islands! Certain islands unlock units such as battlships. These are just some of the maps you can play on or off line. Battlestations Pacific is easily the best ww2 aviation game, Even though this is just one small part of the gameplay. With over 100 units including many new types of airplanes, including Kamikazes!!!! Driving Kamikases into vessels is made extremely fun in this game! The Battles are dramitic, The Graphics Beatiful, The Action flawless, This is truly the greatest ww2 game of its kind!!!!! ***** 5/5 100% A++Read full review
