For starters This is A great Game i like the Control Set that EA's Skate brings to the Gaming Industry, In some respect you actually feel like your Skateboarding, Maybe not that Dramatically but you do feel that you have control over the Board which is a very nice change from that what tony hawk brought us(No Disrespect because Tony hawk Pioneered Skateboarding Games for us) I wasn't all about the story line, You know Oops you went to prison and got out things have changed so on etc... You could have just moved away for a while or some B.S. like that though With that Said. Who plays Skateboarding for the story, we all just want the ACTION!! And there was plenty of that, Great new tricks, New custom characterization, A whole new Hall of Meat, And you can now get off of your Deck which Is what the first skate needed So badly. The online Portion of this Game is Great too! although I really didn't Play this game In particular for the online thrill. the best part about this Game is the Shelf Life, Its one of those games that you don't trade in to get a newer game you get rid of something else, Because you NEVER KNOW when you will want to pick it up and Thrash the streets of San Van for a few hours. So the Scale of Demo Dave says this game gets a 9/10 Solid. Its a definite Pick up and play, It may not be your thing, But you will definitely enjoy it while you have it. IF YOU LIKE MY REVIEWS YOU SHOULD LE SOME MAGAZINE COMPANIES OR SOMETHING KNOW.!!lol LATER, DavidRead full review
A couple months ago I got the first Skate game. I plowed through it in a couple weeks, reliving my skateboarding days. Because of my love of skateboarding I really enjoyed the game a lot and its flick-it control scheme. I was really excited to get Skate 2 and so far I'm a little disappointed. It's cool that there are some new tricks like hippy jumps and handplants, but some things just feel a little off about it. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but the controls feel a little less precise than in the first game. I have a harder time landing in manual, and sometimes when I spin, the game auto-adjusts the spin by 180* increments Tony Hawk style, which I hate. The career mode seems really unbalanced too. Some challenges are way too easy. "Grind the rail." And I'm thinking what's the catch. There isn't one. Then there are some pro challenges that make me want to throw the controller into the TV. Overall it's a fun continuation of the series. I'm glad I bought it, even if it sometimes leaves me wishing I was playing the first game. 8/10Read full review
Okay, Don't get me wrong, this game was great, a huge improvement from the first. Great graphics, new features. The reason I gave this game a 4 was because throughout the game it was the same thing. It became repeatative and never really got sucked into the game. I feel like there is much more they can/will be doing to the skate games. This game is definitley moving skateboarding video games forward. This game is much more realistic compared to the Tony Hawk games. I just don't feel it was worth my 59.99. The prices you find on ebay will make the game worth it. Overall, I do recommend this game. If you have any questions about this game that I did not mention here, please contact me, I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions about this game. If I did not mention a certain detail that you would like to know, just tell me and I will add it here.. Thank YouRead full review
PROS - good clean graphics, huge map with various terrain/obstacles/locations, ease of use controls, movable objects (while off board), tons of tricks, vast character customization, endless playability, great game engine, massive online community (fyi you can skate your friends created parks online), etc CONS - storyline, mild vulgarity VERDICT - overall this is a great game! controls are easy to use, with practice the vast move set can be mastered, add in all the skate spots and you have all the ingredients to a "must have", even if your not a die hard skate fan.
If your a fan of of the original Skate, then your in for a treat. Skate 2 tweaked some of the tricks, added foot plants, hand plants, finger flips, hippie hops, and yes you can even get off your board! San Van has had major reconstruction since the original, but it still holds a few of the places you know and love (They just modernized them some). You can even move objects around to your liking! As far as difficulty, they stepped it up like an 540 Nollie Kickflip. The chalenges arn't neccesarily harder, but this time they actulally make you use all the tricks up your sleeve. (You can't make your way to the X-games on kickflips and pop-shuvits.) For those of you who haven't played either game, you don't have to play the first one before the second. Infact, playing 2 before the original, can even make it more fun. Now, what seperates Skate from everyother skating game is that instead of pressing X and left to do a trick, you have to actully use the right thumb stick to mimic a skateboard. It sound difficult, but its what makes these games addictive and fun. They even "tweaked" the replays. (Get it? Its Skate lingo) You can't change the camera angles DURING the replay, but you can follow the skater or put the camera in a single fixed spot for the whole replay. Almost any spot. You can slow down individual sections of a clip, and did i mention you can put the camera right beside your guy with a closeup for when he crashes? The only complaints i have for this game is of course, Cars have horrible AI so if you dont pay attention you shall get hit. (Thankfully there are far less cars than the first) The parks are better, the people are better, the tricks are better, the city is better, and the chalenges are better. Even spots are harder, making it all the more worthwhile when you get it. New tricks, new editing, new parks and new look. Skate 2 takes everything good about its original, and runs with it until it hits a whole new level of perfection. If your a fan of Skate, tired of Tony Hawk(though its good), or even if you want to add a new title to your collection Skate 2 holds up to all the aspectations.Read full review
