If there are enough songs on this playlist that you'd buy individually from the online store to save money by getting this disc instead, pick it up even if you have a PS3. That's right -- this WILL work on any PS3 (even the ones that are not backwards compatible), *IF* you have any of the PS3 SingStar titles (including Abba or Queen) and the latest updates (you'll get them automatically when you start the game if your PS3 is online). You have to start with a PS3 SingStar title in the drive, get to the menu that lists songs, then hit your Select button and tell it you want to swap discs. Eject the PS3 disc and put this one (or another PS2 SingStar disc) in, and off you go. Works great, and it can be cheaper than buying them one-by-one from the online SingStore. Other than that...if you've never played SingStar, you'll probably want to start with a version that includes microphones (though the very latest update, just before Christmas 2009, added support for more USB-based microphones, so mikes that didn't work before might work now). I'm going to assume if you're looking at this title, you either know you like SingStar already or you like the genre. So if you like SingStar, then whether or not you'll like this depends entirely on what you think of the songs on it, so check out the track list (copied from wikipedia). * Barry White - "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" * Biz Markie - "Just A Friend" * Black Sabbath - "Paranoid" * Bonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" * David Bowie - "Life On Mars?" * Dusty Springfield - "Son Of A Preacher Man" * Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off" * Elton John - "I'm Still Standing" * Elvis Presley - "Blue Suede Shoes" * Grateful Dead - "Touch Of Grey" * The Jackson 5 - "I Want You Back" * James Brown - "I Got You (I Feel Good)" * John Lennon - "Imagine" * Johnny Cash - "Ring Of Fire" * Joy Division - "Love Will Tear Us Apart" * Madonna - "Papa Don't Preach" * Marvin Gaye - "What's Goin On?" * Michael McDonald - "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)" * The Monkees - "Daydream Believer" * Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" * Patsy Cline - "Crazy" * The Police - "Roxanne" * Ray Charles - "Hit The Road Jack" * The Righteous Brothers - "Unchained Melody" * The Rolling Stones - "Sympathy For The Devil" * Sam Cooke - "Wonderful World" * The Smiths - "This Charming Man" * Tina Turner - "What's Love Got To Do With It?" * Tom Jones - "What's New Pussycat" * Whitney Houston - "I'm Your Baby Tonight" If that list looks like your thing, then enjoy!Read full review
My wife has a lot of fun siging along the tracks. real great game to have. party time at the house with this game. defetnetly recommended to all. Have lots of fun at parties and just when you are along in the house wanting to sound like a real start. To all of you out there live it up people this game makes you feel like a rock star on a stage.
I am a huge fan of games like this and basically want to buy all Singstar titles because everyone that comes over to my house enjoys 'battling it out' for the top score. I do love this game because it has a good collection of songs but I think that there could've been some better songs by a few of the artists picked for this so even though I do love the songs, I think there was room for improvement.
This game is a barrel of fun! Family fun, or with friends... we had a blast with "Legends" in a party setting recently... and again enjoyed the karaoke fun with grandchildren. I have a couple of other Singstar games that are definitely entertaining, but must admit, "Legends" is my favorite. Highly recommend this one as it reaches a broad spectrum of ages.
Although it has lots of song choices... I found it had a hard time picking up my voice even with the proper microphones. And it had no option to "tweak/enhance" this in the program like some other singing games. But it's something that anyone can play. Plus it's a lot safer & cheaper than going out to a bar for Karaoke Night! LOL!
